I had read somewhere that the NC700 was a honda fit motor with 2 cylinder lopped off.




the internet tells me it's more akin to the Honda Jazz. The NC700 shares the bore and stroke and some internal parts from the Jazz engine but is indeed its own engine.



They worked with Honda's automotive division to develop the engine.
