THIS IS AN OBSERVATION...IT IS NOT MEANT TO PERSONALLY OFFEND ANYONE.

My experience with several Ducati clubs that I have joined (3 out of 5) is that they are primarily populated by middle aged, fairly well to do males of average riding ability that form cliques within the club. In several cases, erroneous (and dangerous) maintenance information was espoused by self-proclaimed "experts", and any advise to the contrary was shunned or ignored. Some seem far more interested in the bikes versus the riders themselves (interesting, since the riders join the club, not the bikes). Thus, I have or will discontinue membership in all but two of the clubs, as the benefits to me in the other three are non-existant.

So the question is...what is your opinion? Are Ducati clubs just like any other club? Are they different because the average age and income level might be higher? Comments please!
Hmm. Very interesting observation. I have never been a member of a Ducati club, so I have absolutely zero input as to the members of any. I can say that I have met a few Ducati owners and what I've experienced is people who have a lot of what I would call "pride of ownership", just like anyone would have for their chosen mount. I haven't experienced any "snobism" whatsoever, just guys that love to ride. I'm a middle aged (51) grandfather with a six figure income, but you know what? I ride with anyone that will ride with me. I'm well above the average age of most of the members of this board, but have had nothing but pleasant experiences with everyone I've met and ridden with. I don't think that would have been the case if I was a snob. All I can say is that if you left the clubs because you felt the members were snobs, you probably did the right thing. Would I join a Ducati only club? Maybe. Haven't really thought about it. There is a definite appeal to ride with like mounted riders. But, if I did and the members were snobs, I'd leave too. -Steve
