With A.T.C. Flight Training Center, you get two hours of flight training in Fort Washington (a quick 15 minutes from DC). The first hour will be spent on the ground, covering the basics of aviation and the Cessna 172 aircraft that you’re about to fly. Then, an experienced Certified Flight Instructor will take you up in the air, and once you’re at a safe altitude, let you take over the controls. You’ll fly around Potomac Airfield for a full hour, learning how to climb, descend, and complete shallow turns, all under the direction of your CFI. Feast your eyes on sweeping views of southern Maryland—and (just maybe) pretend you’re on a top secret mission. You can even bring a friend along to be your second-in-command. As a bonus, you’ll also receive a $200 discount toward your first month of Flying Club or toward aircraft rental for hourly lessons.

Damn, and the Bugatti ran the test without its roof and the spoiler fully deployed in what looked like its airbrake position. The second key wasn't inserted for Top Speed mode.

Has anyone bought from any of these before? If so please let me know what who you went with, what you think of them, the fitting, and how long it takes. I am expecting it to take a month to get them after ordering it since it is from China.

I see 2 companies with the color scheme I am looking for, but before I spend 500 dollars I thought I would ask if anyone has experience first hand.

I am selling my unused, as new, Scorpion All-In leather jacket. This thing is built like a tank and has a zip out thermal liner for those chilly evenings. Reasonable ventilation for warm days. This is a high quality all leather jacket and if I didn't have my trusty Rev'it, I'd be holding on to it. Paid $300 a year ago but am asking $175 obo. The link below is for the exact same jacket (not the correct size though). I wear a size 40 regular and this fits perfectly. For reference, I'm 5'10 and 170#. There is some waist adjustment if you have a gut :)

Unfortunately I have to sell my beloved Shamu... I toyed with the idea of selling her last year, but wasn't in any real hurry.. I have since come to the realization that my body just isnt going to let me play on the track any more.. My disc issues in my neck creep up and my knee swells up like a balloon. Really bummed about this, but I would love to see her go to someone who is looking for some inexpensive fun on the track.. The bike is a 1998 GSXR600, and I have had her for about 3.5 years, and I havent had to do a thing except clean the carbs and routine maintenance (tires, oil, pads) I just put in a set of Vesrah's before the VIR days last month, and the tires might have 4 days of my slow ass on them. Rear shock is a penske, front end was done up by CTR.. I have a handful of spares as well (second set of bodywork unpainted, rear wheel, etc.. ) There are a few people on here who know the bike that can vouch as well..

So the wife is stuck on the idea of going to Myrtle Beach this year. I know diddly about it. I figure somebody on here might have an idea.

She's talking a condo for a week. I'm thinking hotel.

This is a vacation mainly for our 8 year old daughter. So kid friendly is the main thing. Close to attractions for her. Beach, rides, etc.

I'm also looking for ideas for rainy days. Cause that does happen on vacation.

Just picked her up from country929 a couple of hours ago. She needs some glass work on the body, and a lot of cleaning, and either a good cleaning of the chain or a new chain. This is my first track bike, and I'm a TD virgin. I went to Summit Point with my buddy (udntno235) this past sunday and I fell in love, just by watching. He has been nagging me about doing a TD for the past 2 yrs, and it finally took me one day at the track to watch the bikes go around for me to say that's it, I'm doing it, haha. Should be fun! I have some plans for her, like painting the body and mostly I want to get rid of all the extra wiring (gotta find a diagram or something). Any tips or advice will be appreciated. It's an 03 R6 with no title of course. It's a lot dirtier in person than it looks in the pic.

If there's one thing we can say about European car makers, it's that most of them seem to have a great sense of humor. Nowhere is this more apparent than on a trip past Volkswagen's Swedish headquarters in Google Street View, where rival auto brand Fiat took the liberty of parking its flagship 500 model right in front of the company's entrance.

Fiat's Swedish base of operations is just 45 minutes away from the VW building, so the prank wouldn't have taken very long to pull off, but just how Fiat knew that Google Street View was in the area is a mystery. But judging by past pre-planned Street View gags, it's clear that once someone spots the car, word travels fast.

Of course, some people are suggesting that the sighting is a rather humorous coincidence, since dozens of vehicles likely roll past Volkswagen's front door every day. However, if you continue following the Street View trail as it makes its way past the building, the Fiat driver clearly has the Google car in his sights, pulling away from the building and following the vehicle for several more shots until abruptly disappearing.

Whatever the case, Volkswagen will have to deal with its new role as a virtual Fiat showroom for at least a year, as that's typically how often Google updates its Street View images. What do you think: Was it an epic prank, or a mere coincidence?
The push to make the internet a controlled space used to spy on citizens, where supposedly “private” information is automatically shared with authorities, might soon reach another threshold. A new report suggests that the FBI is currently discussing with major internet companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo and Google to build backdoor accesses to their services to facilitate government surveillance. The FBI is also attempting to convince these companies to support an upcoming law that would allow the outright spying of social networks, VoIP, and Web e-mail providers. The law, like many other similar ones that are being proposed and adopted, is in direct violation with the 4th Amendment, which states: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Of course, those who wrote the Bill of Rights were not expecting the advent of the internet and the storing of information on remote servers. The application of its principles is however nebulous today. However, if those in power truly wished (and if citizens somewhat cared) to preserve the spirit of the Amendment (which was created to protect citizens from government oppression and tyranny) they would have extended the principles of the Fourth Amendment to cyberspace. We are however witnessing the exact opposite: The advent of the internet, of social networks and other technologies appears to be the perfect opportunity for state authorities to deny these historic rights to citizens and to move towards a high tech police state.

Here’s an article on these FBI discussions with internet companies.

FBI: We need wiretap-ready Web sites – now

CNET learns the FBI is quietly pushing its plan to force surveillance backdoors on social networks, VoIP, and Web e-mail providers, and that the bureau is asking Internet companies not to oppose a law making those backdoors mandatory.

The FBI is asking Internet companies not to oppose a controversial proposal that would require firms, including Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo, and Google, to build in backdoors for government surveillance.

In meetings with industry representatives, the White House, and U.S. senators, senior FBI officials argue the dramatic shift in communication from the telephone system to the Internet has made it far more difficult for agents to wiretap Americans suspected of illegal activities, CNET has learned.

The FBI general counsel’s office has drafted a proposed law that the bureau claims is the best solution: requiring that social-networking Web sites and providers of VoIP, instant messaging, and Web e-mail alter their code to ensure their products are wiretap-friendly.

“If you create a service, product, or app that allows a user to communicate, you get the privilege of adding that extra coding,” an industry representative who has reviewed the FBI’s draft legislation told CNET. The requirements apply only if a threshold of a certain number of users is exceeded, according to a second industry representative briefed on it.

The FBI’s proposal would amend a 1994 law, called the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, or CALEA, that currently applies only to telecommunications providers, not Web companies. The Federal Communications Commission extended CALEA in 2004 to apply to broadband networks.

FBI Director Robert Mueller is not asking companies to support the bureau’s CALEA expansion, but instead is “asking what can go in it to minimize impacts,” one participant in the discussions says. That included a scheduled trip this month to the West Coast — which was subsequently postponed — to meet with Internet companies’ CEOs and top lawyers.

A further expansion of CALEA is unlikely to be applauded by tech companies, their customers, or privacy groups. Apple (which distributes iChat and FaceTime) is currently lobbying on the topic, according to disclosure documents filed with Congress two weeks ago. Microsoft (which owns Skype and Hotmail) says its lobbyists are following the topic because it’s “an area of ongoing interest to us.” Google, Yahoo, and Facebook declined to comment.

In February 2011, CNET was the first to report that then-FBI general counsel Valerie Caproni was planning to warn Congress of what the bureau calls its “Going Dark” problem, meaning that its surveillance capabilities may diminish as technology advances. Caproni singled out “Web-based e-mail, social-networking sites, and peer-to-peer communications” as problems that have left the FBI “increasingly unable” to conduct the same kind of wiretapping it could in the past.

In addition to the FBI’s legislative proposal, there are indications that the Federal Communications Commission is considering reinterpreting CALEA to demand that products that allow video or voice chat over the Internet — from Skype to Google Hangouts to Xbox Live — include surveillance backdoors to help the FBI with its “Going Dark” program. CALEA applies to technologies that are a “substantial replacement” for the telephone system.

“We have noticed a massive uptick in the amount of FCC CALEA inquiries and enforcement proceedings within the last year, most of which are intended to address ‘Going Dark’ issues,” says Christopher Canter, lead compliance counsel at the Marashlian and Donahue law firm, which specializes in CALEA. “This generally means that the FCC is laying the groundwork for regulatory action.”

Subsentio, a Colorado-based company that sells CALEA compliance products and worked with the Justice Department when it asked the FCC to extend CALEA seven years ago, says the FBI’s draft legislation was prepared with the compliance costs of Internet companies in mind.

In a statement to CNET, Subsentio President Steve Bock said that the measure provides a “safe harbor” for Internet companies as long as the interception techniques are “‘good enough’ solutions approved by the attorney general.”

Another option that would be permitted, Bock said, is if companies “supply the government with proprietary information to decode information” obtained through a wiretap or other type of lawful interception, rather than “provide a complex system for converting the information into an industry standard format.”

A representative for the FBI told CNET today that: “(There are) significant challenges posed to the FBI in the accomplishment of our diverse mission. These include those that result from the advent of rapidly changing technology. A growing gap exists between the statutory authority of law enforcement to intercept electronic communications pursuant to court order and our practical ability to intercept those communications. The FBI believes that if this gap continues to grow, there is a very real risk of the government ‘going dark,’ resulting in an increased risk to national security and public safety.”

Next steps
The FBI’s legislation, which has been approved by the Department of Justice, is one component of what the bureau has internally called the “National Electronic Surveillance Strategy.” Documents obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation show that since 2006, Going Dark has been a worry inside the bureau, which employed 107 full-time equivalent people on the project as of 2009, commissioned a RAND study, and sought extensive technical input from the bureau’s secretive Operational Technology Division in Quantico, Va. The division boasts of developing the “latest and greatest investigative technologies to catch terrorists and criminals.”

But the White House, perhaps less inclined than the bureau to initiate what would likely be a bruising privacy battle, has not sent the FBI’s CALEA amendments to Capitol Hill, even though they were expected last year. (A representative for Sen. Patrick Leahy, head of the Judiciary committee and original author of CALEA, said today that “we have not seen any proposals from the administration.”)

Mueller said in December that the CALEA amendments will be “coordinated through the interagency process,” meaning they would need to receive administration-wide approval.

Stewart Baker, a partner at Steptoe and Johnson who is the former assistant secretary for policy at Homeland Security, said the FBI has “faced difficulty getting its legislative proposals through an administration staffed in large part by people who lived through the CALEA and crypto fights of the Clinton administration, and who are jaundiced about law enforcement regulation of technology — overly jaundiced, in my view.”

On the other hand, as a senator in the 1990s, Vice President Joe Biden introduced a bill at the FBI’s behest that echoes the bureau’s proposal today. Biden’s bill said companies should “ensure that communications systems permit the government to obtain the plain text contents of voice, data, and other communications when appropriately authorized by law.” (Biden’s legislation spurred the public release of PGP, one of the first easy-to-use encryption utilities.)

The Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment. An FCC representative referred questions to the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, which declined to comment.

From the FBI’s perspective, expanding CALEA to cover VoIP, Web e-mail, and social networks isn’t expanding wiretapping law: If a court order is required today, one will be required tomorrow as well. Rather, it’s making sure that a wiretap is guaranteed to produce results.

But that nuanced argument could prove radioactive among an Internet community already skeptical of government efforts in the wake of protests over the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, in January, and the CISPA data-sharing bill last month. And even if startups or hobbyist projects are exempted if they stay below the user threshold, it’s hardly clear how open-source or free software projects such as Linphone, KPhone, and Zfone — or Nicholas Merrill’s proposal for a privacy-protective Internet provider — will comply.

The FBI’s CALEA amendments could be particularly troublesome for Zfone. Phil Zimmermann, the creator of PGP who became a privacy icon two decades ago after being threatened with criminal prosecution, announced Zfone in 2005 as a way to protect the privacy of VoIP users. Zfone scrambles the entire conversation from end to end.

“I worry about the government mandating backdoors into these kinds of communications,” says Jennifer Lynch, an attorney at the San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation, which has obtained documents from the FBI relating to its proposed expansion of CALEA.

As CNET was the first to report in 2003, representatives of the FBI’s Electronic Surveillance Technology Section in Chantilly, Va., began quietly lobbying the FCC to force broadband providers to provide more-efficient, standardized surveillance facilities. The FCC approved that requirement a year later, sweeping in Internet phone companies that tie into the existing telecommunications system. It was upheld in 2006 by a federal appeals court.

But the FCC never granted the FBI’s request to rewrite CALEA to cover instant messaging and VoIP programs that are not “managed”–meaning peer-to-peer programs like Apple’s Facetime, iChat/AIM, Gmail’s video chat, and Xbox Live’s in-game chat that do not use the public telephone network.

If there is going to be a CALEA rewrite, “industry would like to see any new legislation include some protections against disclosure of any trade secrets or other confidential information that might be shared with law enforcement, so that they are not released, for example, during open court proceedings,” says Roszel Thomsen, a partner at Thomsen and Burke who represents technology companies and is a member of an FBI study group. He suggests that such language would make it “somewhat easier” for both industry and the police to respond to new technologies.

But industry groups aren’t necessarily going to roll over without a fight. TechAmerica, a trade association that includes representatives of HP, eBay, IBM, Qualcomm, and other tech companies on its board of directors, has been lobbying against a CALEA expansion. Such a law would “represent a sea change in government surveillance law, imposing significant compliance costs on both traditional (think local exchange carriers) and nontraditional (think social media) communications companies,” TechAmerica said in e-mail today.

Ross Schulman, public policy and regulatory counsel at the Computer and Communications Industry Association, adds: “New methods of communication should not be subject to a government green light before they can be used.”

What Goes Through A Biker’s Head When You Try And Kill Him
As car drivers, you've been there before. Distracted by that game of Angry Birds, the burger you're shoving into your fat face or just asleep at the wheel, you've nearly killed a motorcyclist. You might even have tried to do so on purpose. But underneath that helmet is an actual human being. Here's what happens when you try and kill one of us.
The idea for this article occurred to me the other morning. Riding home from a girl's house through rush hour traffic in LA, the big ol' Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX I was riding was just a tad too wide to make it between a V6, slushbox-equipped Mustang and a parked car. Toot, toot and the car scooted an inch to the left to let me by, just as I'd intended. But, as soon as I'd ridden through the gap, the driver got on the horn and the passenger started yelling out the window. I didn't even clip that black plastic mirror as I'd ridden by so just figured it was the usual thing - jealousy.

Turned right on Melrose, looked in my mirror, and there was that V6 Mustang again, now veering wildly between lanes, its rental car-spec suspension heaving and wallowing, its slushbox desperately hunting for acceleration. Right up behind me, flashing lights and honking. Ok, I see what you're doing. Universal hand symbol for "wanker" deployed, I popped in front of a couple cars, figuring that'd be enough to dissuade the knuckle draggers. Surely they'd realize that a) I wasn't intimidated and b) they were messing with a more highly evolved form of life. Nope. Pulling into a left turn lane, who's behind me being all honky and flashy again? Why, it's the Mustang twins, fat-n-angry and fat-n-angrier!

Realizing they weren't going to just go away and way too caffeine-free that early to just lose them, I made the turn and pulled the big v-twin across the road. Sidestand down, off the bike and lean back against it arms crossed. Just as I'd planned, a couple cars pulled in behind the Mustang men, effectively blocking them in. Now, you might be thinking that a big, shiny symbol of mediocre credit might just push a skinny blogger and his bike out of the way but, in my experience, the estrogen content in the burgers that give men like these their man tits limits their rage to the impotent variety. We sat like that for a good 10 minutes, me chuckling inside my helmet, them looking like their seatbelts were cutting off circulation to their increasingly red faces, cars behind honking up a fury. Back on the bike and a block down the road they were nowhere to be seen.

Now, if you ride a bike, incidents like these are far from uncommon. Most of the time, when a car driver tries to kill you, it's just because they're texting or grossly incompetent, usually both. You only encounter the hyper-aggression once or twice a day. Out of, say, two dozen murder attempts, that's not so bad. Since you try and kill us so often, we've developed a few defense mechanisms. Here's what goes through our heads when it happens.

An important note: lane splitting is expressly legal in California, where I live, and in the rest of the world outside those 49 freedom-hating states. It'd even be safe if you drivers would bother learning how to drive, then pay attention when you do so.

Thought One: "I wonder how much those wing mirrors cost to replace?"

Thought Two: "Should I tear them off, punch them or just boot that mirror as I ride past?"

Through Three: "That meathead should really get new tires, driving around with them completely bald must be pretty dangerous."

Thought Four: "Oh look, he's getting out of his car. Do you think he realizes I'm wearing head-to-toe body armor and the carbon fiber equivalent of brass knuckles?"

Thought Five: "Man, car drivers are an angry people. They sure do shout into their phones a lot."

Thought Six: "It's not my fault you have to sit in traffic. In fact, by not contributing to congestion, I'm making your wait incrementally shorter. You should be thanking me."

Thought Seven: "If you like that phone so much, then why'd you make me take it from you and throw it over that barbwire fence?"

Thought Eight: "Are red lights and stop signs really that hard to see?

Thought Nine: "I wonder if there's a correspondence between road rage and Clear Channel listening?"

Thought Ten: "Diet and exercise. Diet and exercise. Diet and exercise."

Thought Eleven: [just making the sound a sheep makes inside your helmet]

Thought Twelve: "This would all be a lot easier if people just looked where they were going."

Thought Thirteen: "Good job, accelerating wildly like that netted you one place in traffic and cost you about $10 in gas."

Thought Fourteen: "You know, you don't have to sit in traffic either. Learning to ride isn't that hard."

Thought Fifteen: "Did your dad never teach you how to drive in the rain? Following that close is a really bad idea."

Thought Sixteen: "You realize that if I tear off your door/mirror/aerial/headlight/whatever, it's a matter for the insurance companies, but if you hit me, you're going to jail, right?"

Thought Seventeen: "Man, it's nice out today."

Thought Eighteen: "Let's see. 100 HP and 400 Lbs or 160 HP and 4,000 Lbs. Who's going to win this race?"

Thought Nineteen: "Wouldn't it be nice if cops wrote tickets for bad driving instead of just speeding? That way, the roads might actually be safe and stuff."

Thought Twenty: "Screw this, I'm outta here."

Hi guys. I'm one of the instructors for Total Control in MD (and sometimes VA) and I'm posting on several websites to see if there is enough interest in running a Total Control trackday class to make it worthwhile. This is just guaging interest but we would probably need at least 12 people signed up for it to go. The class is on a racetrack (probably would be Shenandoah) and it's geared towards riders who have already taken a TC level 1 class. I rode out to CA last week and did the class with Lee at Willow Springs and let me tell you it was a blast.

It's not a free for all like a trackday. You have instructors stationed around the course and you practice specific techniques while being observed. You do 3 lap stints and then come in to a hot pit area for feedback from another instructor then you go out and repeat. When your group isn't out riding the track, you practice some of the parking lot excersises from both the level 1 and level 2 classes with instructor feedback just like the normal classes. We could probably even talk Lee into coming out and participating.

So what say ye? Sound like fun?

Want to get back at your pissy, upperclass, privileged plutocrat neighbors for blocking your attempts to build on your property?

Invite a bunch lower income residents to move in. BWAHAHAAHAH!

George Lucas' rich neighbors don't want him building a movie studio in their backyard. His response is the best thing he's done in years.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, for four decades Lucas has owned a large swath of land in Marin County in the North San Francisco Bay and has spent the past few years trying to transform the ranch on it into a massive, nearly 300,000 square foot, state-of-the-art movie studio complete with day care center, restaurant, gym and a 200-car garage. His neighbors, however, have rejected it every step of the way. Despite the promise of bringing $300 million worth of economic activity to the area, the already-well off neighbors are worried about years' worth of construction activity and the additional foot traffic it will bring into their neighborhood once completed.

The local homeowners association has been such a thorn in Lucas' side that he's decided to abandon the studio construction entirely, issuing this official statement about Lucasfilm's withdrawal of the new studio:

The level of bitterness and anger expressed by the homeowners in Lucas Valley has convinced us that, even if we were to spend more time and acquire the necessary approvals, we would not be able to maintain a constructive relationship with our neighbors.

We love working and living in Marin, but the residents of Lucas Valley have fought this project for 25 years, and enough is enough. Marin is a bedroom community and is committed to building subdivisions, not business. Many years ago, we tried to stop the Lucas Valley Estates project from being built, but we failed, and we now have a subdivision on our doorstep.

So what is George Lucas going to do with his property now that he's tired of his rich neighbors putting up a not-in-my-backyard stink? He wants to transform the property into low-income housing, naturally, ending their official statement with this zinger, "If everyone feels that housing is less impactful on the land, then we are hoping that people who need it the most will benefit."

He's working with the Marin Community Foundation to instead construct affordable housing for either low-income families or seniors living on small, fixed incomes. In order to smooth along the development, he's already given them all of the pricey technical studies and land surveys Lucasfilm spent years conducting. And we think that's just great. Because if there's one thing rich people will hate more than having movie magic made in their backyard, it's poor people moving in.

Mr. Lucas, we may hate you for turning your back on the original trilogy, but our hat is off to you on this one. Well played.

drops..to ride banks...

Honda SLR650 Dominator The Needle
Image:...

drops..to ride banks...

Honda SLR650 Dominator The Needle

"And now for something completely different"
Just when I thought I'd seen every type of custom motorcycle there is, along comes this whacked out ride from Mermaid Mototorcycles of Milan. Cafe Racer? Tracker? Push bike? I've been looking at it for about 30 minutes now and I still can't figure it out!!

The Needle is based around Honda's SLR650 which was their "cheaper" version of the NX650 Dominator. The SLR is a street/dirt bike that's good for almost 40hp and tops out at around 160kmh. None of that really matters with this build though as I don't think anyone's going to be game enough to test its top speed.

The Needle was an experiment in having fun and the Mermaid team aren't hiding the fact it. This is the sort of build that gets hammered by critics and purists so why let anyone get the wrong idea? It's a crazy, one of a kind ride that's guaranteed to garner a few smiles.

The first thing about the Needle that's going to get a few WTF's are the drop handlebars. Straight off a bicycle with the brake and clutch levers mounted as they would traditionally be they are definitely one of those "Hey wouldn't it be funny if we..." ideas that somehow ended up happening. To solve the problem of not being able to fit a throttle sleeve on the bars a thumb operated accelerator was added just like the set up found on a jet ski. The tank and seat are both one off customs which are no wider than the Needles tires (perhaps how it got its name?) and the new headlight and tail lights have been bolted on with some fairly makeshift brackets. The pipe work that runs around the frame is a combination of the exhaust and the intake with a few hidden holes and block off points to get gases flowing correctly.

Here's a video of the needle that was put together for Riders Magazine. In it you will see the poor sod they talked in to riding it trying to come to terms with what he's about to do. There's even a quick shot of him on the phone which I presume is a call to his Mother, to tell her he loves her.

I picked up an inexpensive TomTom GPS, and am looking at a Ram mount to put it on my V-strom. I thought about perhaps drilling and bolting a bracked to the instrument cluster housing on top, or getting a mount for either the bars or the clutch master.

Ram makes both styles, as well as a cradle that should securely hold the GPS (TomTom XL 350). I'd like to hear from other Ram mount owners and see what your impressions are of stability and durability of those mounts. I know some people on here have also fabbed up their own mounts, but i have no skills in that regard, although I would certainly be willing to pay for someone who has that ability.

Thanks!

A Suzuki-powered CRT machine has been granted a wild-card entry for August's Indianapolis...

A Suzuki-powered CRT machine has been granted a wild-card entry for August's Indianapolis MotoGP.

The entry has been announced by GPtech, which has contracted BCL Motorsports to design a frame with Vesrah Suzuki/MCJ Motorsports as a technical partner on the project.

The frame is manufactured from billet aluminum and designed to accept a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 engine.

The project has been in the works since January and, 'quietly moving forward until a grid spot was guaranteed. A shortlist of submitted acceptable riders is soon to follow'.

“The new CRT rules have allowed us the freedom to develop a complete program that is worthy of being on the Moto GP gridm” said GPtech owner Geoff Maloney. “A big thanks goes out to everyone behind the scenes helping!”

The bike looks like being the first CRT MotoGP machine to feature a Suzuki engine. The full time 2012 CRTs are powered by Aprilia, BMW, Honda and Kawasaki engines.

“Being able to develop a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 engine under the CRT rules of MotoGP is a huge opportunity and I look forward to building a competitive engine package,” said Mark Junge, owner of Vesrah Suzuki/MCJ Motorsports.

The FIM recently announced that wild-card MotoGP entries will be allowed a generous three engines per event, compared with six per season for full time prototypes and twelve per season for CRTs.

Attack Performance has already announced that it will enter both American rounds, at Laguna Seca from July 27-29 and Indianapolis from August 17-19.

GPtech and Attack are the only wild-card MotoGP entries so far announced for this season.

So it looks like we'll be adding another Monster to the stable and I wanted to see if there was any interest in a Monster owner ride. Easy pace, great scenery, and planned stops for fuel because these things only go 100 miles between fill ups with a couple of great lunch options depending on which way we go. Guy AND girl friendly(more so because my wife would like to find other female riders to roll with in the future). I know there are lots of Monster owners that lurk, this would be for you. Would like to keep the ride under 10 people if possible. Post up interest, and we'll go from there!

Jr welterweight Nick Casal (22-4-1, 17 KOs) was brutally attacked last night in Buffalo, New York. Casal was out with his girlfriend when from he was brutally attacked from behind by a gang wielding golf clubs. The attackers were identified as her ex-boyfriend and his friends. Medical reports are that Casal has a possible broken arm, multiple lacerations, including one at least 12 inches long. Casal was in preparation for the biggest fight of his career on June 29th in his hometown of Niagara Falls against Ruslan Provodnikov (21-1, 14 KOs) for the WBO Inter-Continental title. The fight was to be the main event of a nationally televised card on ESPN2′s Friday Night Fights. Obviously Casal will now not be able to fight on this date.
Boxing360 founder/promoter Mario Yagobi who promotes Casal released the following statement. “First of all I just want to thank God Nick Casal is alive and we ask everyone to pray for his health and a full recovery. We hope the boxing community will come together to help a fellow fighter in time of need. Donations can be made out to Boxing 360 in care of/Nick Casal and sent to 183 Bleecker St. New York, New York. 10012.”
Hybrid car owners cite price, technology in refusing to buy again | Fox News

For a surprising number of U.S. hybrid car owners, the experience is one and done.

According to recent analysis by Polk Automotive, last year just 35 percent chose to buy another hybrid when it came time for a new car. Loyalty dropped even more, to about 33 percent, in eco-conscious cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland.

Despite a desire to help the environment, lighten fuel bills or reduce dependence on foreign oil, hybrid owners' decision to buy a second one comes down to dollars and cents.

"There are a lot of gasoline-powered vehicles out there that are much more fuel efficient, and cost thousands of dollars less than their hybrid counterparts," says Lacey Plache, chief economist with Edmunds.com.

Industry expert and UC Berkeley Prof. Harley Shaiken says the payback period for a hybrid often exceeds 6 years-- the average time car owners hold on to their vehicle.

"If you take two similar, even identical models, one a hybrid, one not, for the Ford Fusion, for example, you're paying a $5,000 premium up front, versus a non-hybrid," explains Shaiken. "Going forward, it could take 8 to10 years to make up that savings. If you only plan to keep the car for 6 or 8 years, you are not going to see it. People are thinking twice about that kind of a decision."

For Los Angeles resident Bruce Cornelius, the decision was less about the cost, more about the hybrid technology and performance. He says his 2008 Honda Civic hybrid didn't get close to the promised 45 miles per gallon -- more like around 28. Echoing complaints made by scores of other Honda hybrid owners, Bruce says the electric battery system often failed, which meant his green car released carbon emissions just like the Mercedes-Benz he'd given up.

"They weren't delivering on the gas mileage, and they really weren't delivering on the green benefits of owning a vehicle like that," says Cornelius, speaking about Honda.

Some states have also put the brakes on tax credits, use of car pool lanes, and other perks once given to hybrid drivers.

Analysts predict the low repurchase rate will motivate car makers to improve the technology, and dealerships to lower sticker prices. They say it's either going to take reductions in price, or soaring costs for gas, to bring former hybrid owners back for a second tour.

Another "buy it before I list it" special.

This is an absolutely gorgeous Wrangler, with super-low miles.
As with my other listings, this Jeep is not being sold in MD on account
of the altered suspension. It has had some spacers (looks like 2") added to accomodate the bigger tires.
3945 miles
A/C, Power locks/wind, Hard top
Oversized tires

Good base for an outstanding gaming PC. I used this machine at work for about 6 months and I’m only selling because I have another gaming level PC in the house so I don’t need this one any longer.

Drives will be sold completely reformatted and bare so you will need to install your own OS. You will also need a video card if you are serious about gaming.

All told this is about $1,100 worth of gear. Asking $900 OBO.

I can ship it or bring it with me when I come to DC the first week of August.
Case: Antec 900

I binned the R6 Saturday morning during my second session of the day. Just as I exited T5 and was standing it up getting ready to position myself for T6 the throttle opened up on me. I made sure it wasn't me and tried to close the throttle but I had zero twist to my wrist. I was gaining momentum very quickly and had to make a split second decision between hitting the tire wall, attempt making T6 or grab the clutch and brakes and dump it.

I chose the latter.....I grabbed the clutch and a handful of front brake and down I went. BODY SLAM!! I landed on my right side on the track. My head took a major hit along with my right shoulder and hip. I remember tumbling a few times and coming to a stop in the grass & dirt. Having had the shit knocked out of me, I rolled around a bit trying to catch my breath then took off my gloves and helmet 'cause I was started feeling claustrophobic. Bikes were still on track and I was laying against the tire wall. I was too sore and dizzy to try and get up so I just layed there hoping the ambo would come around T5.

I have zero broken bones, thank goodness. My Arai did it's job and protected my head. My Teknic's did their job and I only suffered one minor strawberry, and that's on my right hip.

And what I can only assume happened, my left thigh came into contact with the gas tank and dented the shit out of it, almost crushing it.

Leathers and helmet need to be replaced.

The bike went ass first into the tire wall about 8 feet upstream from me. The subframe is toast, the rear plastics are obviously toast, too. The right rearset, frame slider and bar end took the brunt of the initial impact with the track surface. The upper plastics also have some damage, but I'm not sure to what extent. I'm also not sure what kind of front end damage there is, but my steering damper seems to be tweaked a bit. I'll most likely strip the bike this week of the subframe and plastics and get it over to VonDari and have him do a once over on it.

Error code showing on the display, "60". This error, if my research is good, is related to the Throttle servo motor, which if it went bad, could explain why the throttle opened up on me, correct?

Was heading out to the Shenandoah for the weekend and saw a bike or to be more accurate, what was left of one spread out all over 66 EAST near an exit (wasn't paying attention to the exit sign). I believe it was before the 50 west exit on 66 west. (I was traveling west and don't think I'd passed it yet.) However the bike was on the EAST bound side.

Hope it wasn't anyone on here and if it was they are ok. Looked horrific. The front end of the bike wasnt anymore. What's worse is the bike was next to a concrete barrier with the metal pad on the front. Like the guy couldn't make up his mind to take the exit or stay on, or some cager took him out trying to make the exit.

Either way, looked rough.
