Duc Duc Goose - May 12, 2018, 02:28 PM

I don't know why I am drawn to late 90s - early 2000s vehicle but here's my fourth motorcycle in three years of riding.

2000 Ducati 748S Biposto
19.8K Miles
Ohlins Front and Rear Suspension
Marchesini Wheels
Arrow Exhaust
New Clutch
New Battery
Carbon Fiber tidbits
Loud AF

I've had to do some things since it was sitting for two years:
Timing Belts
Tires
Fuel Lines
Fuel Filter
Might need some rotors too since they feel warped

I've had my eye on the 748/916/996/998 for a long time and have spammed the hell out of Leo with an abundance of questions. There is no doubt that the reliability is questionable and the running costs will be high. But since whatever I seem to own requires a new engine at some point, I figured I might as well buy the bike I've dreamed of.

This reminds me of a Ferrari F40 or a Lamborghini Countach. Designed for one purpose - to go fast around a circuit. It's impractical, tempermental, and a moneypit. But lord it is fun when you're going WOT and leaned over in the corner. Handling is sublime! Because the chassis is so small, you feel in complete control - as if it's your exoskeleton.

We'll see how long this affair goes. Hopefully it's a longer one lol

Because you like unreliable, expensive to repair and maintain machinery?

Nonetheless that's a beautiful machine. Have fun, enjoy, and fingers crossed this one turns out to be more mechanically sorted out and reliable than your last 2 or 3 rides.

Side note; you said this is a biposto.
I don't see the passenger pegs or seat pad?

Sure, maybe after all this rain. Which looks now like it'll be until June.

See now you can rock that sweet super long black leather trench coat you have been saving, and you can tell everyone that you are "Not The One". We will agree.

Yeah I am old enough to know better. Thing is, I just don't care.
