HOLY CRAP. I have no idea why i just clicked through this thread but....

I used to work at a restaurant called San Vitos in South Riding when I was about 17-18 as a waiter. "T" worked with me. Always a cool guy and we usually got along well. One day asks to borrow $500 bucks (which at that time was quite a lot of money) I didnt think much of it and lended it to him. He said hed pay me back in 2 weeks. I didnt get paid.

I was a pretty reckless kid back in the day, so i showed up with a bunch of folks one night when he was working and confronted him in the parking lot, asked for everything he had on him $$$ wise. I think i got like 80 bucks that day. I ended up doing that for the next week or two straight till i got my money back. I think at the end he still owed me like 20-50 bucks but had disappeared out of town. Im sure if id have waited a few more days i would have never seen that cash.

Crazy how small this world is. This guy seems like he doesnt want to learn... sad. Hope he changes his ways one day.

Side note - home boy was a SMOOTH talker. He used to pull random chicks at the bar while working pretty often. Con artist at the finest man...

People like this NEVER change. At an early age they realized they have certain gifts. A quick mind, a disarming charm, an ability to read into others greed and twist it to their advantage.

They think they're smarter than most others. Working to get what you want is for fools. They think their verbal quotient and charm is a gift that should be used to exploit others and they have no moral qualms about it.

In their warped system of merit, they think: "Well, if I didn't do it to them - someone else would have."

No, they never WANT to change until they're too usually old to run the same scams or too hindered from actively being involved society or roadblocked from seeking employment that doesn't involve low pay.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

- Nicolo Machiavelli 1469-1527
