To all police officers. - June 20, 2009, 12:05 PM

We are all tired of riding twisty roads, tires cost too much!!
This sunday we will be doing laps at a high rate of speed around the
beltway.

All officers invited... be sure to wear your hats.

Yes, due to my gearing change I will need an officer to pace me, cuz it just seems like the faster i go the further out of calibration I am. Im sure one of our finest will oblige me on my high speed laps on 495. (read )

Speed is a rate quantity. It is a distance traveled per unit time. It is miles per hour, feet per second, meters per second, whatever you choose. Therefore, it is redundant to say "rate of speed". Please refrain from doing that. If you want to talk about going fast, just say "high speed". If you love the word rate, then please say "rate of travel". kthanks.
