Rte 7 has crappy traffic all through Tysons. Possible alternative: 267 to Reston Pkwy or Whiele Ave over to 7.

Good point. An alt would be to get off at Spring Hill Rd. and take the back roads past the Audi dealership, make a rt. on 7 and 2 miles down the road you can jump on G'town Pike. That way you're only on 7 for 5 minutes at the most.

Lawyer's Rd is pretty fun, too. From 123 to fairfax, though.

If you are riding down from Falls Church and heading out to great falls there's a much better route to take - I do this one all the time

From Falls Church -

Head west on Route 7
Right on Idylwood Rd, Continues on to Kirby Rd (this one is fun)
Hit 123, make a left
Right on Georgetown Pike (193)
Right on River Bend Rd - you will see a sign for river bend park
you'll come to a stop sign, make a right - turns into Beech Mill Rd
Come to another stop sign, make a right - still Beech Mill Rd
This road ends at a 4-way stop, make a left on Seneca - this goes back to the intersection of Georgetown Pike and Route 7 out near sterling.

From there, either head back on 7, Georgetown Pike (sometimes I split off on Leigh Mill Rd from G'town pike back to route 7), or do the route backwards

Careful with Riverbend/Beech Mill, there is ALWAYS gravel down somewhere. Its usually in the same spots, but you never know.

I like my typical haymarket route even if I'm staying in DC or Arlington.

Up for a challenge? Add Kirby Road near 123. Very twisty road, but scope it as sometimes, they are doing construction on it.

I actually took Springvale Rd... I think that's what it was called, off G'town Pike. The road was like a rollercoaster and ended up going into the woods. I was chasing an Sti the entire way.
