Camping with dirt bike trails/ Recommendations? - April 27, 2012, 04:49 PM

SO a few friends want to do some camping and dirt bike riding.I thought about hitting budds creek but I want more trail riding that dirt track.

Ideally I'm looking for somewhere that rents cabins and we could ride dirtbikes along some trails. I'd love to tent, but a few wussies who like running water and electricity are going. So cabins it is.

We're all running street legal plated DRZs since I know some places require that to ride their trails.

Any location suggestions would be appreciated. Looking to be within 3 or 4 hours of the DMV.

Thanks

Wicomico is down the street from Budds Creek. It's a fun trail system but not particularly long. Less than 5 miles total. Easy trails.

Taskers Gap is a couple of hours away I would guesstimate. (Near Edinburg VA) Mix of trails.

The Cove is a bit further (West of Winchester) Mixed but rocky.

Tomahawk is the furthest of all three from Budds. (North of Winchester) Mixed trails.

Ohhh. The cove has cabins, dirt trains, AND a gun range! I know where I'm going.

Thanks MudDawg.

S'allright.

There is a hare scramble at Romney WV this Sunday.

Post up in advance and have a .Net crash/whine-fest with others coming out to ride.

The firing range is usually trashed, but you can shoot anything that's legal there. My husband was just up there this week to test a fix to the MG42, and he said the trail leading up to the range was a deep, muddy mess.

While the cabins have power I don't think they have running water, so you'll need a container to bring your own.

Believe it or not, I saw a Corolla (or maybe it was a Jetta) full of grown men make it up there!
