Deer are out in force - October 31, 2006, 01:12 PM

While I'm thinking about it, I wanted to warn everyone to watch for deer in the mornings and evenings, especially.

This morning on my way to work, some guy hit 4 (yes, FOUR!) deer on the 295N offramp from the beltway after the Wilson Bridge. The man lived, the deer all died (deer massacre!). Hopping off at the Naval Research Lab exit, I saw another living deer eating greenery just off that offramp (they are there every day).

Everyone on bikes needs be careful for a while. I think the deer are getting their groove on...

That's a good reminder and that's a funny line to me.

Someone somewhere once said some time ago that if it weren't for road kill, kids might not know about all the wildlife we have living (or dying) around us. So, it's kinda edumacationable.

"Mommy, mommy! What was that?"
"Oh little Carnage, that was a Venomous Skunk"
***See, a lesson learned about wildlife.***

BTW, I saw a road kill beaver yesterday on my way to work. Those suckers are huge!

I saw 12 of them at work while I was leaving. They dont allow hunting near the plant so the deer multiply like crazy. While we were out driving around the plant we saw a 2.5 year old buck got out and almost walked right up to him. They are too used to people here.

Yes, they are "rutting", and wookin pa nub....

unfortunately, they're "wookin pa nub-in all da wong pwaces".

if you have open land, let hunters use it! The deer population in Northern Virginia is out of hand and doesn't look to be getting any better any time soon.
