Gum Springs Closed 12-19 - August 4, 2009, 10:37 PM

Upcoming Road Closings Announced

By John Toler

Wednesday, 29 July 2009

Home / Traffic

The warning signs are up, and motorists are preparing for two road closures in Dulles District that will impact traffic flow.

]As part of the traffic calming/roundabouts project at Gilbertís Corner, Watson Road at U.S. 50 will be closed for about two weeks, beginning on or about Aug. 3. During this time, work will be done on Roundabout 3 at Watson Road and the re-aligned section of U.S. 50 in front of Mount Zion Church. While the road is closed to through traffic, drivers can acess the area using Evergreen Mills Road and Red Hill Road.

Watson Road at U.S. 50
Gum Spring Road south of U.S. 50 will be closed at Ticonderoga Road and prior to Braddock Road on or about Aug. 10, so that crews can install a pipe to fix a sinkhole. During this time, motorists will be detoured through Ticonderoga Road.
Persons seeking additional information can contact VDOTís Customer Service Center at 888-3ess 83-8368.

I was going to rant about these freakin' round abouts ...but what's the point. It just reminds me of Europe and the movie European Vacation....Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament.

Yeap no riding during road closure and it's a dirt road that is a nightmare.
Got a feeling of what traffic will be like with Gum Springs being closed this AM due to someone hitting a tree the 2nd time this year

They give me a chance to wear the LHS of my tyres and puck. (Not the European spelling of tires....yeah, I'm cool like that.)

I really don't mind them. It's just when going up 15 and had to detour to go < 1/4 mile away, just to meet up with 15 at the next intersection.
