Map Collaboration Project - March 20, 2008, 11:10 AM

I created a map last year on Google Maps and I'm willing to invite others to collaborate and mark some good roads. This isn't a map for secret hiding places, stunting spots or other illegal activities.

Update: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/ed...4.kAPP8sqLsqhI Anyone with the link can edit and I'll occasionally export backups for safe keeping.

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid...2e3edb40af73ff

It's fairly easy to draw lines on the map and I encourage you to leave marks for landmarks, restaurants, shops, views, and stopping points of interest.

UPDATE: Someone posted a speed trap. I think that's okay if it's pretty often used.

Of course not. Only ones with cops in small suburban neighborhoods.

I've gotten some collaboraters, but not much added in the map. If anyone else wants to join, just send me a PM.

UPDATE: I also think it's a good idea to mark stuff like bike shops, good restaurants and other things I think we could all share and learn about. Someone posted a speed trap. I think that's okay if it's pretty often used.

Does anyone think I should just post a link to the map so we can all see it? What about making it publicly editable?

Just trying to get more users and make it more worth it to have around.

IMO!!!!!!

Make a site, establish members. ONly certain members should have access to those roads, most people that lead only. I have a road fully mapped on google, which I created but it stays on a DL. If you need someone to create members and upload the maps to a site, we can work something out. I have a lot of space on my site. I don't think the roads should be made public, once its public, word will spread around. Like the POR MD route, I've had a lot of people ask me the names of the roads and the routes. I tell them I don't know the name and I"m glad it has soo many turns lol.

I miss the GOOD OLD VA DAYS!

Keep it private, and if people want to add/see it they'll just have to PM you.
