Routes to/from Montreal, Canada? - April 27, 2016, 12:40 PM

Long story short is that me and a buddy are riding up to Montreal in June for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix. We plan on leaving the Wednesday morning before the race and figure we'll head up to upstate NY somewhere and camp, then on Thursday, ride up into Montreal where we have a place for 4 days.

Does anyone know some good routes or 'must-drive' roads in upstate NY? We'll probably enter Canada near either Champlain or perhaps just north of Chateaugay depending on which roads we take. On the way home (leaving Montreal Monday morning) we planned to ride down to Toronto first and re-enter the US through Niagara Falls (and then hit up Dinosaur BBQ in Buffalo) camp somewhere in NY again that night, and then finish up and get back into town Tuesday evening.

Not sure how you are coming back down to Toronto, but a couple friends and I stopped at Kingston CAN and took 33 across the north side of the lake to 2 and on into TO. Pretty cool ride. You can make up time on the 401 interstate if you need to.

Why are you heading out to Utica? Are you coming up 81? If you're taking 95 > 87, Utica is pretty far out of the way..

If you need a spot to crash for the night in NY, you'd be welcome at my place- I'm in Ballston Lake.

I've ridden through the ADKs a few times.. a few good spots, but most of the roads out that way are meh. I much prefer VT. Rt 100 is a lot of fun, and takes you through a cool mix of forests and small old towns.
