Wake up call on 66E after rest area (accident) - September 24, 2009, 05:43 AM

This morning seemed like any other. I get up at o' dark hundred, do my normal thing of cleaning up and hit the road. Everything is kinda chill for it being a Thursday...that is until I see the truck ahead of me in HOV slam on his brakes so hard I swear his ass end came up. Let the fun begin.

I am riding the HOV lane and I was suddenly right in the middle of a sea of brake lights. The truck I am following swerves onto the side of the road so I move over just in time to avoid having a car side swipe me. The car jerks back into the other lane and then I hear brakes and squealing tires. Crunch-crunch-crunch. I am literally passing this shit as it is happening.

I slow down along with everyone else and pull over to call it in. I am still kinda in shock. I mean I have had some close calls before but, 2 cars coming into my lane in a matter of seconds and then boom. That's something new. It just makes me think and want to say thank you to those that keep reminding me by sharing their experiences...keep your eyes moving and have an escape route.

So next time you feel the need to prove to the world that you should have been euthanized as a child, do it in someone else's thread.

ALWAYS HAVE AN ESCAPE ROUTE!!!!!! Many close calls on a bike but also in my truck. Best one was on 95 north near Ashland with an 18 wheeler and a couple cars. I saw the shit happening with me in the middle and saw a hole and punched it. Squeaked thru with inches to spare at about 80 mph. Then a huge wreck behind me! Stupid people not paying attn always!

I just rode through the massive traffic jam that caused. Sweaty as hell.

Good job on the avoidance dude.
