Location: me, the bike, or the crap that broke off?

My friend has an F4 she recently dumped. The only damages we noticed at first were a trashed shifter linkage and stator cover (broke in a circle around the four bolts the magneto attaches to on the inside). So I had to take off her stator cover and clean out everything then put on a new and such. So now her bike is running again. But she's claiming there's a problem getting into first gear from second. She says she really has to force it. She's claiming there's no grinding noises and that the clutch lever feels the same from prior to the crash.

Any ideas?

Not usually but stanger shit has happened. Im probably wrong on my guess. Its not cheap the parts arent too bad but ya gotta pull the engine and spilt the case on most bikes.
