'99 R6 Carbs and headlights - October 23, 2009, 07:14 AM

I'm pretty sure the headlights are just the plug being mated incorrectly... but this is what happens. If you press the turn signal "off" the headlights go off. if you do turnsignal right, the headlights come on solid, and if you do turn signal left... they flash.

the bigger concern is the carbs. they were just cleaned out because every single jett was clogged. but now its got a really bad stumble from 6k-8k.... and if you mash the throttle the bike will cut out on you... any ideas?

Definitely a wiring issue on the headlights.

Sounds like the carbs are running the engine lean.

your main jets are still clogged. i would disassemble the carburetor dip all the metal parts in a carb cleaner for atleast 2 hours. (carb cleaner will destroy all the rubber parts).

-carb cleaner

I'd be surprised if the main jets are clogged.
They have the biggest holes and are usually the last to clog.
And I wouldn't use wire to clean brass jets. Too easy to make the hole bigger and make the bike run too rich.
Use toothpicks after soaking in carb cleaner.

well when we took the carbs apart to clean, ALL the jetts were clogged. they are darn near spotless, though the pilots were hard to get 100% clean.

Boomboom suggested i dip the housings.... RJ said 50/50 mix of simple green and hot water for an hour.

I need to stop being lazy and get to work on this.... i need to make the underwear ride with the new yamaha of doom

Kaan, I have a dip that isn't harsh but is effective. We need to get together and do this. Let me know.
