Blue on the Exhaust pipe? - June 26, 2008, 07:56 AM

I purchased my bike two weeks ago and just had the first service completed at around 700 mi. After the service I have been running my bike hard and I noticed that there was a bluish hue on the tip of my exhaust. There isn't any blue smoke or anything out of the ordinary going on with my bike except for the blue around the tip of the exhaust. I have about 1000mi on it now and it's a K8 GSX-R 600. Should I be worried?

Uhhh Just a moment on that exhale of reliefe. That could be a sign of your headlight fluid mixing with your oil. Very, very bad. You should at least have it looked at to be sure. Try any of the site sponsors. Doesn't hurt to be safe.

Of course! You know, the fluid that cools your headlight?

But that doesn't happen often. I think Madali is just being cautious.

That's correct and I am being cautious. Listen, these are high performance machines and the slightest issue can be big problems later if you don't catch them early. Besides it's an easy check at a shop, less than ten minutes and they usually don't charge for it (unless it needs to be repaired). You could do it on your own if you are brave enough, but I don't recommend it. One wrong move putting it back together and you have HL Coolant #4 all over the place and it melts plastic with the quickness.

**EDIT FOR INFO**

You know come to think of it, I think Carnage had this happen to one of his R1's. He may have more on how much it costs to fix if you don't stop the leak.

My exhaust tips turned blue on my R1 and the week after that, my exhaust bracket snapped. I had to remove 1 of my cans and ride open pipe on one side, sounded so sick. Blue tips on exhaust is bad you should take it to RNR Cycles to get it checked.

I might ride open pipe today hummmm.
