Carbon build up on pistons - March 15, 2007, 01:39 PM

Is there something (besides carb cleaner) that I can use to clean out my engine. When I look down the intake tube on the engine at my pistons I can see a lot of build up on top of the pistons. Other then tearing down the engine is there some product that will get rid of this?

DO NOT spray a cleaner down into your intake!!! You can try a fuel addititive and see if that works.

44k. May take more than one can. You can get it at some repair places or car dealers. Cost about $20 per

Yamaha Ring Free works very well, 4oz per gallon of gas to do the shock treatment.

if you want a can of 44k to mix with your fuel i can sell you a can from here at work. however i think 44k is too strong to mix with just 5 gal of gas in your bike's tank. there is one that is 1/2 stregnth that would work well for a bike. there is also throttle body and intake cleaner that you can spray down into the intake when the bike is running that will help also. the combination of the 2 will really reduce the carbon buildup.

MissS:no now!!!

You don't pour the entire bottle of 44k in, maybe 1/4 - 1/3.

bambam, Where do you work? I can stop by this week. I went looking for the suggestions everyone made and at one shop someone recommeded "Sea foam". Anyone ever used this? The bottle says it clears up a lot of stuff. The guy at the store said people sware by it.
