ok members,

I have a TRE, Power Commander & Full Sato Exhaust w/ Map on the way, prolly be here this week.

I'm wondering if I should just put the TRE on and see if I notice any difference.
Then Install the pipe & power commander then feel the glory.

What do you think? all or step it?

I think you got the right idea with the TRE first, since it will be the easiest to install. Then add the exahust and power commander. That's going to be my plan with the new bike. Although some 05 people are having problems with the TRE.

i hope the TRE isnt too bad for you.

What is this world coming to when you have to hack a motorcycle just to get some potential out of it.

You getting the dealer mode switch or just using a paper clip?

I would step it so that you know what modification yields the greatest HP gain.

Either way good luck!

I got the TRE from JeffW on the gixxer.com board. It fools the bikes ignition into thinking it's in 5th gear in gears 1-4. It's just a plug in adapter that has a resister in it.

yeah, thats where I purchased my TRE too. I understood what it does and how it works. I was just wondering how they could goof on the 05 & hopeflly it wasnt Suzuki going out of their way to make things difficult.

Power Commander Showed UP!!! today

thanks Devious & Brooks (hurry up and get your bike)

The TRE won't add more power unless you are in the lower gears.

and for a bike like the GSXR1000 it's pretty useless. You wheelie too much now.

I had one on my Hayabusa and promptly removed it. I could ride the bike better without it. Not that we are drag racers...but I have read many many threads about people running better times on without the TRE than they were with the TRE. It's also my unstanding that your bike will run the 5th gear engine map for every gear as opposed to the maps Suzuki loaded for each specific gear.

IMO, TRE = waste of money
I know some people have had good luck with switchable TREs but the single resistor one is junk.

well, i got the TRE today. put it on and realized just as twiggy stated.

its junk....

I got the switched version from gixxer.com and the darn thing doesnt even tell whats on and whats off.

I took it for a ride ..flicked it a couple times and looked for some sort of difference. Couldnt feel anything. It would have been nice to notice something,,,oh well..looks cool! I will keep it on and add drama when I'm in the crowd.

still waiting on that exhaust from cali...lol would be nice to put the power commander to some good use.

The good news is you could put it on ebay and get 90% of your money back!

FYI - the TRE has no affect on the GSX-R above about 1/2 throttle. If you want to feel a difference, mark the throttle quadrant so you can easily repeat the same throttle opening and try it @ 1/4 throttle in 2nd gear.

Suzuki put the timing retard into the lower gear maps supposedly to make the bike easier to ride at low throttle around town. Ivan, the original inventor of the TRE (see http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/tre.htm) is quite clear that it just changes the way the bike feels as the throttle is moved. Its a personal choice - I prefer bikes with them since I hate the torque surge going through 1/2 throttle; others prefer the more easy going feel of the stock setup in traffic.

thanks, i will try the 1/4 throttle tests just as you described.

At the time it was cold and didn't really give it a chance to get a feel for it.

As of now, I have the Full Sato Exhaust installed & the original owner of the exhaust sent me a map. for it. But, I also received an AMA map that came with the used power commander I found that is labeled:

'03 Suzuki Gsxr 1000
Dyno Tested Surge Correction.
Anti Wheel Chatter

For Full or SLip On
race or extreme street map
Absolute Performance
732-241-3833
www.absolutecycleperformance.com
6/03

This map was stated to produce 155 to 165 HP with a Yosh system. I would love to find out. what it does for my setup on the '04'
Compared it to the Sato map.......and the Sato Map looked generic compared to the AMA tuned map.

Cant wait for warm weather!
