Unhappy On a lighter note, you m*therf*cking, c*cks*cking, piece of s*it! - September 22, 2009, 09:04 AM

The ups and downs of building motorcycle stuff. When I built my first bike I needed a longer axle. The stock Buell axle was an inch too short and it was hollow. I had one made. Solid stainless steel and built to spec.

Yesterday I was adjusting my chain. Guess I was in a hurry when I put the nut on. Got back from a ride and tried to loosen the axle. Nothing. Impact wrench: nothing. Had to cut the nut off. The one off axle is toast. I could turn down the thread and redo it but I'm obsessive. Now I have to spend money and look at my bike on the lift. Yeah.

As much fun as it is you cant always just force it you have to be gentle at first and take your time.

Anti-seize the nuts.... always protects the shaft in a hurry.
