Due to the publicized Dunlop tire failure and the recent debates on which brand is better I have been thinking about tires. Could some members please explain the best way to determine when you need a new tire. Such as what should I look for on the tread? I overheard some guys talking once about a tire "bubbling".....Of course the obvious is if it is flat, I want to get that one out of the way before all the smartasses start up. Thanks gang!

True!

Good question!!
Boom...you only have 2 tires.
When the tread is getting thin get a new one. Most tires have wear bars. Remind me and I'll show you the next maint day.
It's not worth wrecking your bike to save a couple bucks on a tire IMO...

Agreed. Which is why I usually will replace both at the same time,
rather than try to get 100 more miles out of the one w/more tread,
when one obviously needs to be replaced right then.....
