Bedroom Sub Section - December 8, 2006, 01:03 PM

With all the junk that is posted in NON-Sportbike chat, I was thinking that a sub-section be created similar of what Cycleforums does.

How about a bedroom section? All sexually related posts will go in this section. Which most of the non-sportbike posts are...
Think it will be a little more organized for those members tired of looking at the sexual material discussions..

What's the difference between having it in a sub-section or having it in non-sportbikes chat?

They have the option not to open the threads there, but curiosity, boredom, something makes them do it... the same "something" will have them opening the bedroom section and reading the threads there too.

Problem is, I think I, like most people don't browse each forum individually, but rather use the "new posts" feature, so unless this section was not included in the new posts feature (which would most likely result in its disuse) it wouldn't change anythign for me.

Though, it would make it easier to squelch that category of posts.

However, regardless, we need more careful attention to NSFW tags on threads that contain NSFW material...and people, come on, if the thread topic isn't NSFW then don't post NSFW material in it (especially if the material has little or nothign to do with the thread)

matt, your point is valid.

however i think if we sub it out some more, it is a little bit easier to avoid especially if folks get used to looking at what section it is in.

I think Marc's point is valid too. I don't really look @ what section something is in when using the view new post button.. and if we didn't include it in the use new post button then the forum would never be used..

It's a win/lose in which we wouldn't figure out if we won or lost until after we tried it...

@ least with a section like that, people couldn't bitch about the content in it, because it was their fault for opening it...

Can I mod it?

Cool. You may want to call it the bad advice section.

Like it's already been explained, probably the only section that gets opened individually is the Classifieds, other than that I probably wouldnt be able to tell you what section any given post is in. Perhaps giving it a red background or something to distinguish it as a NSFW section would help.

I personally don't think we need this area. I think it just supports more smut and less motorcycle related topics.

However if we must go this direction why not do what other sites do and put up an "Anything" goes section which is blind unless you requested access be granted to you (subscription) by an admin. Then all of the garbage can be posted or "Moderator moved" in there and not seen by our advertisers, kids, boss's, work collegues, thus elimnating the constant whining for a "NSFW" tab.

It goes there or it doesn't go. You subscribe or you don't see it.

Guzz that would be way too easy of a solution!! We must rectify this problem by searching for our inner selves!! Or just make a NSFW section!!!

any amount of time spent on a site that supports actual relationships and common interests between people will ultimately result in alternate interests being expressed. You think you came here for the motorcycle news solely? Bullshit, you can go to the motoGP or manufacturer sites. EVERY fucking forum is full of posts that are related more to off-subjects than anything.

This would be like getting upset at a TWT because people are talking about thier asshole job, or bitch of a girlfriend instead of the next set of tires and thier mad powerslide, kneedown skillz...

I think more than anything, people should be able to UNSUBSCRIBE to certain sections. That way thier UI is costomizable to thier level of interests on a site that will invariably contain more than posts about black rearsets, and the next photochop of a fake bike Aprillia and Gucci are collaborating on that comes with a purse for your curb monkey.
