Garage Space for Rent Near Potomac Yard - April 8, 2013, 12:06 PM

Update 4/29/2017: One of the guys who shares this garage with us is moving out of town, so we have an opening. Please PM me if you are interested.

Last summer, a couple of .netters came up with the idea of starting a garage co-op in the Arlington/Alexandria area. ( Renting Shop Space: ) We wanted a place where we could wrench on bikes, store tools and share some beers. The dream became a reality after we found an auto mechanic shop near Potomac Yard that was interested in renting out a portion of one of the bays used only for storage. The space was far from move-in-ready, with cars and parts strewn throughout. Over the course of several weekends we all got together to clean the bay up and make a place for us to work. We started renting in December, and it's been working out really well; however one of our guys has a new job which is on the wrong side of DC, so he will be leaving us. With that said, we are looking for a new "garagemate". Rent will be $200 per month plus utilities.

Includes the following:
  • Two awesome garagemates
  • 1 Space for long term bike work (basically a place where you can tear down and rebuild without getting in anyone's way)
  • 2 Spaces for bike storage
  • 1 car sized space for short term car or motorcycle repair (we share this space so coordination is required and no long term projects)
  • Place to store tools
  • Area to wash cars/bikes outside
  • Half bathroom
  • Access to a Tire Changer, Wheel Balancer, Hydraulic Press, Engine Hoist, and Air Compressor
  • The remote possibility of installing a two-post asymmetric lift. Only when we get some additional space and find some missing parts for the lift.

If you are seriously interested and have the means, please PM with your information and what you plan to use the space for. We reserve the right to select the coolest, most reliable person possible.

Damn! I wish I had the coin for this especially since it is down the street from my house and I have a few projects to work on.

Additional note: we're looking to find someone who can join by the end of the month.

I'll try to get some pictures of the garage by the end of the week.

Here's some pictures I took last night. That land yacht is leaving with our old garagemate.

I will advise on this to any possible garagemate -

I know Fiasco pretty well, and I would not suggest bending over to pick up a wrench in front of him. Make sure you keep him in FRONT of you at all times.

STFU Nate! You're spoiling the garage initiation!

Wha!?!? Everyone knows that education is overvalued.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in this posting... There must be plenty of .net members in Arlington who don't have the ability to work on bikes in their apartments/condos.
