What do I need to ride in Canada? - June 21, 2007, 07:34 AM

I'm off to Sunny Canada in early August, en route to Michigan. I'll be carrying my licence, rego, insurance card, and passport. Is there anything else that will make my motorbiking hassle free? I figure that Canada is just to the north, but until this year we didn't really need a passport.

Is there anything else I should know, paperwork wise? Or for that matter, what should I see or do? How do I know good from bad poutine? Where is the Geddy Lee national Monument? For that matter, what do I look for on the way back home through the US of A, which will probably be slabbing it home through the midwest unless someone has a better idea.

Route is gonna look something like this:

No chance. I'm no a Kawi 500R. Just about the worst bike in the world for this trip. For that matter, what advice have y'all for this kind of long trip via sportbike? A lot of it will be dull riding, as I'm going with my dad, who is a cruiser guy, currently riding some Suzuki 1500 CC beast that he took to Alaska last year.

Where in Canada are you going? Passport is good. Just as an FYI no firearms in the bags. Be polite. The border officials are generally nice and will respect you for making a long trip to see the country.

Prices in general are a little higher for common items. There is also a combined tax of 15% on any purchase. As a visitor, you can keep receipts and claim this back.

no firearms, and NO liquor should be brought across... It's also good to have a passport or a copy of you birth cert.... While it used to NOT be a big deal (lived in Buffalo) - it got allot stricter after 9/11.. The passport will save you time getting BACK into the country, thats where the main issue will be..
