Here's the ad: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/mcy/4004277365.html

One of you might end up buying it, but what do you all think?

I'd do it. You can send the engine out (UUBusa and Dodge131 know the place) to have it rebuilt. Lots of goodies on it and you can probably find the misc. items online since many get parted out.

Its easy to drop the engine and then send it to Allen Noland. He owns Noland Transworld Cycle. He is about 2.5 hrs away from this area. He is the guru. Add him om fb. His fb is the name of his shop.

But now after reading the craigslist, I would take the whole bike and let him do everything. He will check every nook and cranny. You will basically come out with a bike better than factory. Its a lot of maintenance and initial set up. Make sure it is what you really want to do. Great 2nd bike, not a daily driver.

Offer 3 grand. You have no idea what happened to the motor.

this...more for the "you don't know what happened to the motor" vs. the dollar amount. The dollar amount is on you. THough 5k seems pretty high for something with questionable internals.

Have to wonder why the head gasket blew. Then you have to inspect that cylinder for whether any coolant got sucked in while the piston was cycling. If so, the cylinder wall is most likely cracked, or the piston is shot.

Unless you KNOW 100% you can fix it yourself and could get the parts to do it, keep looking.

and 5k is high for a non running bike

for that price you can get a running 2010

What Mike said.. 3k also I don't believe 12's made it to the US. If it came from Washington I suppose the orig owner could have brought it in from Canada.

Mine blew the head gasket about a year after I got it...I know what caused that though...lol
If I had 5 I'd be on the road right now... love these things.
