Question Honda Grom 250cc+?? - August 22, 2015, 01:49 AM

Anyone know if it's possible to put at least a 250cc engine in a Honda Grom? I've been thinking about buying a Grom but I don't want to buy it if the max speed is only 65 mph. I want to go at least 85-90mph with it.

Big bore and turbos kits are available.

It'd probably be cheaper just to buy a KTM 250 Duke.

I got into the 67 mph territory (actual) bone stock on GPS.

Alex (around here) had his 220 or 230 big bore/stroker kit for a little while. It went boom but he swore it felt like it could go 100+ mph.

A buddy down south goes about 92 mph on GPS on a 180cc big bore kit. He isn't the average rider though.

I wouldn't advise boring bigger than 180 or so until others out there can prove with sustained long runs the strokers won't grenade.

Thought about getting a Zuma 125 for scooting around town, but I've been eyeballing Groms and have seen some pretty badass builds. They can be enduros, stunt bikes, mini road racers (cheap and awesome!) as well as just fun around town.

Hmmmmmm

My friends used to give me shit a lot for getting/riding a Grom, but to me personally it's so much fun. Kind of makes me feel like I'm a boy again on my BMX single speed riding around the town.

The only issue that I have is.. I don't think there's really a huge grom community or I haven't found it yet. Like, you see a lot of events and meetups for people who live in California but over here it's pretty crickets.

It would be fun to be able to go to some sort of east coast Grom meet / ride.

I threw on a BBK (183cc) and it made a huge difference but expect to pay about ~1k for that.

Edit: Shit.. holy zombie thread revival batman.
