Impromptu Pitbike tech session - May 4, 2008, 08:11 PM

so today we had another pitbike tech session

Thanks to everyone there - to much to mention and you know who you are.

what was done:

forks, brakes, oil/heat cycles, tires, - then I rode

pics:

my forkless bike

Marelli's New plastics

Nate the Fork Master

Oil Change:

Various Maintenance scenes

Dan's Hotness

NEW TOYS

GOING FOR A RIDE

Oil Change

All the Bikes

My Bike, Marelli's Bike

At home with the big horses

As I mentioned, I was able to ride when I got back home. I took it out on a few trails near my house and managed to scare up a bunch of deer. Bike was working pretty good and it got a little dirty before it started getting to dark to be running around in the woods.

when I got back in my driveway I got approached by a couple of neighbors asking about my bike .... maybe a Pitbike group buy #3

word

SUCKER!!!!!!!!!!! HAHHAHAHA!

If you offered to pay me $60 an hour to sit there and fill forks like this for 8 hours a day I wouldnt take the job. Whoever coined the phrases "watching grass grow" or "watching paint dry" obviously never serviced pit bike forks.

No problems. I don't mind opening up the garage and driveway for sessions like this. I learned a lot opening mine up for the first time and want to help others figure things out as well. That and seeing someone else's float bowl look nearly as bad as mine makes me a believer that knowing how those bastard things work is a good idea.

Not to mention finding out that my floats were installed the wrong way. Which probably accounts for my lean running conditions, but that remains to be seen.

I found replacement screws for the fork caps. I'm still searching for replacement screws for the front brake reservoir. Safe to say, it'll probably end up being a hobby store or something of that likeness where I'll find something similar.

Good times with good people. Couldn't ask for more.

on a related note - after an impromptu golf outing - the Nude Dude and I scoped out an outdoor area with pitbike track potential ...

to be continued .......

Yea - it's always the guy who actually knows whats going on and has all the materials/tools, provides beer/food that's the problem....

Thanks to all that have kicked in over the little sessions, I appeciate it, and the kudos for the work I have done... I don't think some of ya realize what goes into these.
