TTR125 recommended hop ups? - August 20, 2013, 02:24 PM

I have a TTR125 (little wheel) that I am going to set up to run at All Sports this winter (got it free from a friend). I am wondering what the best hop ups would be for this bike. The following are what I am planning on doing to it so for:

Convert to the big wheels and front disc brake.
Aftermarket exhaust
Lightened flywheel
Stiffening up the suspension

I want to bump to A group this year and I know this is down on power (especially with my big circus bear ass on it). Any input would be appreciated.

Check out this site:
Yamaha TTR125 Parts & Performance - ProCycle

I would probably go with the 150 kit to start.

TTR125 is nice but no matter what you do to it, if you're a big dude, you're gonna feel like you're on a 250 on a large track. I'd say sell it and look at the Honda 150Rs.

Sell it for a grand. Buy this FS: 2007 CRF150R little wheel with

The mods you listed will cost you more than the difference for what your bike could sell for and the asking price of the bike I linked.

Just my opinion.

See you at Allsports!

Dude you're going through exactly what I went through... and I ended up with a 150R and sold the TTR 125

Seriously, sell your TTR and buy my bike and have a better bike for a big dude.

And this makes it a pretty popular option..........

Well it kind of makes sense. I have a TTR125 as a pit bike as well (big wheel with trial tires) and have done some work on the suspension so far to carry my fat ass. When I looked at all the other options to give me a little more power I realized quickly if I ever moved back to the area and wanted to do Allsports, I'd have to sell it and get a 150R. The price of a larger carb, flywheel lightning, big bore kit, chasis improvements etc... etc.. is just not worth it price to whp wise. You spend more money and still end up with a less powerful and less capable bike

Yep, your gonna hate A group on a TTR, even with a built motor.
Sell the bike to me (seriously looking for a stock engine).
Buy a 150R.
See you at Allsports

How would a CRF150F stack up to other bikes in A? I'm looking to bring out the gf with her 150F and ride in A myself. I am used to making up for being on underpowered bikes Plus its just for fun for me and her so I don't see the need to spend the $$ on rims, motor, suspension.

I'm 210lbs for reference.

It will be fine, as would a TTR honestly. It's just that if you're having trouble getting around someone, it's not gonna happen on the straight.

1st a stock motor ttr in A group will not be fun. Even B group is getting taken over by 150R's. But you should start on the ttr and tune it for your riding style. Then when you are fast enough every where but on the straight get a 150R and set it up for your riding style.

2nd a 150F is kinda tall for allsports. I know of Tim and Brian running built 150F's. Like a 230 kit motor.

I have a monster TTR built by Tim Bemisderfer specifically for Allsports. It was a bit of a grenade with this 160 Powroll kit though. After it blew up the second time I replaced it with a 150R. I'm currently looking for a stock motor or whole bike to use as a pitbike, Cornerspin, and girlfriend.

Will sell you the hop up parts, flowed head, cam, lightened flywheel, carb, quick turn throttle, Falicon crank etc. All this will work with a BBR 150 kit which will be much more reliable than the Powroll 160.

I appreciate all the input. I was figuring that the 150R was the way to go, just didn't know the potential of the TTR. I may have to part with the TTR and go the obvious route.
