Buell TV commercial - March 26, 2006, 01:45 PM

So in the TV commercial that was aired on Speed during the MotoGP races, why did it sound like an inline-4? Are they embarrassed of the way their bikes sound?

Was it the same one where they show all the patents, with the tag line "own the corners".

Yea, I don't really see them hiding from their sound-but I can see where someone would get that idea....

About the Comercial.

If you'd ever heard an XB9 at about 6800rpm with a stock exhaust, you'd know it was the actual sound of the bike. Think about it.. most of you have pointed out how it sounds like an IL4, well.. how many 4s' chug along at 2000rpm with a set of straight pipes on them? Most of the folks I know don't ride their sport bikes that way. But then again, I could be mistaken.

SV, the "Own The Corners" tag line has been used for several years now.

Ant, they only showed a few of the patents that Buell holds. They have a lot more, just like all the other manufactures. So it wasn't 'all' just a few that are most obvious, some are quite old as well.

Apprila, Last word was that Penzkofer and Cicotto both suffered from bad clutche baskets from the vendor. They have been having problems due to the amount of torque the engines produce and after Rico smoked one in his second race (he won the first one) they ordered more. The vendor admitted it was their fault as all the basket castings were overly pourous and much weaker then the 'normal' version. QA at the vendor is being addressed, I'm sure. McWilliams was taken out by an internal bracket that broke due to two factors; 1- the 'rough' section of the track was causing problems with the piece hitting a frame section, so they did a partial re-design and fabricated it locally, not the best of ideas. 2-When the bike came off the stand (the Hals team was working the Warrs pit at the time and used the wrong front stand) the new part, which had a notch that wasn't supposed to be there (local shop they used didn't have as precise a cutter as was needed) struck the frame and cracked (supposed by crew, no real proof) after a couple of laps, it gave and McW had to park the bike. No word on what failed on Creviers' bike, although that's the only one that 'blew up'.. may have had a faulty rev limiter and just over revved.

Godfadda, Uh, I thought it was a pretty nice little bit o' film.. But then again, I'm not a professional film critic.

You know the patent office is full of junk that doesn't work. You Buell guys always bring up that patent thing it's too funny. The fuel in the frame thing is funny too.
