The pads look like they're surrounded by huge calipers. And how can I check the pad fluid?!?

No, wouldn't keep youi from passing inspection unless there was no pad left. car shops wont notice a thing.

As for the fluid, take the cover off the reservoir on the right clipon and look at the color. Darker = bad and needs to be replaced. it starts its life clear, and gets darker with time.

if you spill on the pain or anywhere else, after you close the cap again, just hose the area down with water, it neutralizes it.

or put rags/ an old towel down before you open it, so even if a little does splash out, no chance of it getting on paint.

I've done it before and knew not to get it on paint, but never heard anything about what to do if you haz a accident other than scream kick the bike and be extremely angry
