Next mod- DIY Latus/Magnaflow clone exhaust! - June 30, 2010, 08:50 AM

Well this POS Jardine can has not only blown its rivets twice, it blew the bolts I put in afterwards. I've been running a leaky, blow exhaust for about a month now. What to do? Well.... looking at new aftermarket exhaust, and Jardine is the cheapest! Wonder why So googled around, found that peeps have made very nice sounding, well-flowing "clones" of a discontinued exhaust by Latus. The first clones were made via a now-discontinued Edelbrock car muffler. Next best thing is a Magnaflow 11148 muffler, similar in size and design to the original Latus and Edelbrock clones. Looks good, sounds good, flows good, and cheaper than $500-$1000 that XB aftermarket exhausts are. I'mma use the existing jardine elbow that connects header to the pipe, the Magnaflow, and have 2 45-degree elbows welded onto the dual outlets to exit exhaust away from tires. I've done some DIY stuff but not like this... and it'll turn out better than my 1st attempt at open airbox I'mma be hittin up one of the DIY fab/weld peeps on here for help!

Here's a vid of the Latus clone I'll be doing...itsa sexy time.

Ordered the muffler $81 shipped......will reuse the Jardine downpipe to connect it. But will need something like this....someone said use flatbar. Don't even know what flatbar is. Is this flatbar or welded janks? (the bracket on top of the magnaflow)

i could prolly help you fab up something to use. Flat bar would work. It's just flat steel like 3" wide by 1/8" thick maybe. Heat it, bend it, weld it.

This thing in the pic is a block of aluminum CNC machined = $$$$

That'd be sweet dude, I got $$ just not a lot haha. So flatbar could work, sweet man. Guess I'll stop by Home Depot tomorrow and pick some up.

I didn't even know that until couple days ago, but IIRC he's super busy with shiz right now. Dave might be able to help or MissFabrikate if she's available I might ask her. The muffler should be here by saturday and I'm essentially running open pipes now haha, louder than shiz.

Yea, I spoke with him about some parts for my monster in another thread and he said he woudn't be available untill the last week in July. That is a long time to be rolling around with headers only.

yeah I think I'mma ask David. Mikes prob busy as hell and hopefully I don't need something exactly like the picture, just something simple that works and holds the exhaust up. Saw on Badweb or BuelletinBoard that flatbar is the way to go.
