Starting to hate my bike - July 11, 2012, 03:01 PM

Don't think you'd ever hear that huh.... but i'm SICK of fixing something and having to refix it every ride!

  • Get all the HIDs wired up...boom high beam goes. Replace the relay, easy enough. Except I gotta take the whole gotdam Sharkskinz (which is Spanish for pain in the ass motorcycle fairing) off each time. Or pretty much everything for that matter. Get the relay replaced and out of nowhere about 30 minutes into riding my low beam HID goes. Relay isn't it this time.
  • Use leak dye and check for loose/leaks..nothing. Take a friend riding 2up come back and boom...looks like Pauly D's hair care collection exploded in my belly pan.
  • I've wrapped the headers and sprayed the wrap with silicone paint and added a right side scoop...doesn't stop the right stop from burning the fack outta my leg.
  • Adjust the clutch and primary...STILL the clutch won't 100% disenagage and I still cannot shift gears unless the bike is cold or physically moving.
  • I'm too old to have a bike that vibrates this much.
  • The odometer and speed sensor just went out.
  • Facking tired of this gotdam bike want an 1125R!!!!!!! Reagan smash!

I felt the same way about my monster, so I sold it last week. Now I'm commuting on the XB and just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I need something made in Japan.

I might break down and do it. I don't have the time or money to throw at this thing anymore. I just need something that WORKS, and works well.

It took you 9 years to start to hate a Buell? You are one patient man.

The only advice I have for you is don't get a KTM.

I will never have hate for my 2003 Xb9R. Only had a few issues like stator, coil, oil seal and a license plate wire short all of which i easily fixed myself. Bike had 38k when i sold it.
When the mileage goes up they become less reliable. I eventually needed something very reliable due to my commuting to work on a bike. My Honda has been flawless, currently has 48k and only regular maintenance items change no repairs needed. Get a Honda.

I can guarantee you'll miss it. I felt the same way about my Duc 888, rebuilt the engine myself twice, but 15 bikes later it's still the one that I had the most fun with, partially because of the love-hate relationship I had with it.

Glad you finally realized this Bobby. If your spending way more time wrenching on a bike than riding it it no longer is fun. Get a reliable bike and let's go have fun!!!
