Ducati Class action Lawsuit - November 16, 2011, 06:26 PM

If you own any 2003-2011 Ducati, be on the lookout for a letter in the mail regarding Ducati being sued for their expanding tanks. After Jan 6th 2012, owners could expect a check for upto $1500 including an extended warranty.

It was a big issue on the Monsters and the GT1000. Mine is a 2006 and I have not had a problem with it

Interesting I never knew there was a issue. My hyper seams fine. But I am willing to expect a 1500.00 check Damn gas tanks so small anyway a little expansion might be a good thing.

Yea right until you take the tank off and it will not go back on. Working on the plastic tanks has been a bitch. On a couple KTM's the tank expanded a 1/2 inch and I had to pry the tank back on.

If its like any other class action suit, expect 23.14$ and you have to pay taxes on it.

What, you mean these things benefit the lawyers more than the people they represent? Say it ain't so!

Nubbs, you must be one of the lucky ones. A friend with a '06 s2r 800 had the tank expand to the point where it was leaking gas from around the filler cap. The tank on my 695 expanded to the point where I had to use a pry bar to get it to hinge up. We both had them replaced under warranty last winter.

Now if only they would do something about the cosmoline they put on the 695.

That one really surprised me.. We havent seen any problems with the new style bikes..

EDIT: This covers these style tanks in the event of future fuel pump fitment issues..

The thing is, it looks like they, being Ducati, are just agreeing to do what they have been doing all along, except now there is an end date..

Reading the suit I don't think $1500 is in the cards for anyone except the people in the suit who presented their bikes for inspection.

Could be wrong about that though.
