Ducati Horn Upgrade (Installed/Pics) - September 3, 2006, 10:02 PM

I have been looking around for a better horn for a while and found a company called Stebel. I noticed that a lot of people were talking about the T80 Magnum (136db at 2 meters) horns on different forums and so I after a little price hunting I found these horns for 12.95 + 7 shipping. These same horns are being sold on Pirates Lair to BMW K1200S owners for 43+!!! Go to the Stebel site (click the Auto Icon) for a sample of what the horn sounds like and I think you will agree that it is far superior to the crappy horns that Ducati equips our bikes with. Stebel is also an Italian company for all you purists. I bought my single horn in black/hi tone from http://www.hornsplusauto.com (They are PayPal Verified) and I will be happy to let you know how the transaction went after its completed (they only accept PayPal btw). It is supposed to be a direct two wire replacement for my 749 and it includes a mounting bracket.

I had a Dodge truck horn on my VFR until a stoppie crunched it against the front fender. It looked like these and cost about $20.

Okay was a snap to install using the OEM bracket points I only had to get creative with a couple of things. One was a piece of high heat tubing to go over the brace screw and nut on the rear of the horn. I also twisted the brace so that the horn faced the opening in the cowling. As you can tell from the pics it clears the fairing perfectly and I doubt a horn from a junkyard would do that? Oh I didnt realize that the stock Duc horn was japanese until I looked at it closely. Its definately louder and only took about 5 days to receive from that vendor.

FYI. I have the same mod, It is much louder and makes your bike sound more like a car horn. But for those of you who dont like to wait for shipping, you can get these at pepboys of advanced auto parts.
