Ducati VDST cable/kit - Anyone have one? - October 28, 2013, 08:41 AM

Looking to reset the service light on the 1098S, hopefully saving myself a trip to the dealer/DucPond.

Anyone have the kit to clear the codes?

roughly $230

I'll probably end up picking one up but figured if someone local had one then I'd soften what it cost them to buy it

FYI, we can't clear the codes without doing the service...

This is my biggest bitch with Ducati, BNW and any of the other brands that force you to pay for them to clear your codes. I understand while the bike is under factory warranty but once that is up I should be able to do my own work on what I own. With out having to spend 230.00.

I'm thinking I'll just buy the cable (one that supports multiple bikes) and charge a small 1-time fee for local duc owners (with a compatible bike) to use the cable when needed. You in?

It is a liability issue on our end.. Yes, you got the first part right, but say there is a situation where something needs to be goodwill warrantied, etc... You basically are asking us to sign off on work we didn't do. Would a building inspector sign off on an inspection he didn't do? Same idea. We have to cover our own rear's unfortunately.
