"New for ’08, the Hypermotard is a fuel-injected 90-horsepower bully that kicks sand on single-cylinder bikes with dual-purpose intentions."

My ass!!! How many Hypermotard owners are gonna do the big jumps , dirt and gravel roads! Chris I like that you got one but with press like this I am starting to really hate this bike! They are making it seam that Ducati invented the motard! KTM has been doing motard since the early 90's!

I didn't write the article

I agree...it's certainly NOT a motard!

Dodge, with all due respect, read the entire quote. "... with dual-purpose intentions". The writer is correct. How many thumper dirt bikes with dual-purpose intentions (KL650, DR650, BMW 650) do as well on asphalt as the Ducati will?

And then he ends the article with this line "It is, therefore, well suited to an urban commuter who has a dirt bike fantasy."

In other words, he's calling it a poser bike.

I did read the whole quote and if my bad memory serves me correct KTM came out with the 950SM in 2006! So they need to compare apples to apples not to grapes!

Poser bike perhaps but a poser bike that would make short work of a lot of bikes in some twisty stuff

Dodge - good point on the KTM. My bad memory.

The writer of this article took a Ducati press release and not much more to produce this story. It happens in the news biz all the time. You'd cringe at the stories I could tell you about reporters/writers.

Chris - the writer is calling you poser -- no one here is Well, perhaps a few folks here have.

Sorry...I was completely joking around

The bike is crazy stupid fun...and that's all that matters to me.

If anyone thought I was angry...no way...after all the article does sound a lot like a Ducati commercial!
