2006 ZX6Rs sold out! (?) - July 6, 2006, 09:59 AM

Went to a shop today to check out some '06 ZX6Rs and the salesman told me Kawasaki was completely sold out for the season. I'm about ready to switch up to a more powerful bike, but I'm wondering: is it normal for bikes (from any manufacturer) to become sold out at a certain point in the summer? In case I wait until next year, I want to be able to plan ahead to buy early if that is the case.

I have no clue, but I know Champion Motorsports in VA has the blue 06 sitting on the showroom floor.

Hmm I think the 06 models came out in August or September of last year. I don't know about the 07 6R.

yamaha sold out last year as well depending on the shop they buy a certain amount of bikes and models and then sell them after they sell them they are sold out, as in that shop has no more bikes. If you really want that bike try Colemans or Champion motorsports

If you are talking to Rick at Extreme, consider the source. He may not be able to get them, but I am sure some people have them for sale.

Kawasaki is not sold out for the year. Just that dealer is ... you can go to any LARGE dealer and they will have a few in stock. Just keep looking and don't listen to BS like that as it's only a ploy to get you to buy something else they have in stock.

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

haha yeah true - i was just tryin to check it out at Extreme...wouldn't buy from them.

he was tellin me directly that Kawasaki themselves had sold out - should've guessed it was a little ploy. What's the thought process there though? "Hmmm, just tell him the 6ers are sold out and he'll buy the 10R"?? haha yeah...right

not anymore, it is going to be sitting in my driveway on Tuesday! But they did have some in the wherehouse. I think he said he had another blue one, black one and a green one. If you go there, ask for Ed

Don't recall the guy's name but one of the sales folks at Extreme told me the same thing about the 650r earlier in the year when I knew a few dealerships still had 'em.
