I had the same issue. Kawi authorized the fix last winter. I got it done right before I put it away for the winter so I haven't been able to test it out yet.

There is an official service bulletin and kawi dealers are fixing it for free. They just have to take your vin and get it aproved by kawi.

Sweeeet I need to do this to mine. Mine is leaking a little oil from there and Rick over at RnR had told me that he thought it was that. Perfect! Thanks for this. Calling up Colemans now...

Do you guys know if the work has to be performed by an authorized Kawi dealer? Also, does it actually have to show signs of a problem or can you get it preemptively fixed?

i've got an '08 w/ 600 mi on it, and i've heard that the gaskets will begin to leak as well :-\

I called Colemans and they said not to clean it. To leave the oil there so they could determine if that was it. So im guessing that they won't preemptively fix it. And of course they told me this right after I had cleaned it all up.. So now i've been riding it just waiting for the oil to build up again..

but they will do it...

from what I understand it's a service bulleting and not a recall meaning that they will only fix it if it is leaking. But the dealer has to get the fix aproved by Kawasaki first so I'm pretty sure you have to go to an authorized Kawi dealer.
