Bent my key - July 27, 2009, 12:51 PM

Stopped to get gas after riding through Great Falls yesterday. Shut the gas cap, pull out the key, and it comes out bent at 30 degrees!! wtf? The bike only has 600 miles on it! Anyone else had this happen to them?

Thankfully was able to borrow pliers from a gas station attendant (couldn't get to my tools because of the key) and straighten it out enough to get home. Was scared the whole time that I would just snap the key off...

I've broken 2 keys in the last year. First time was on a ride and I didn't have a spare with me. Now I carry an extra key in my pocket at all times.

How? The key didn't get stuck, at least I didn't think it was stuck; I just pulled it from the gas cap like I normally would, and it came out bent.

u prolly bent it when u opened the gas tank by slamming (or putting pressure on) the key on the tank while it was in the gas cap.

I wonder why this has never happened to me then? I guess I am just lucky.

I must be very unlucky then . Either that, or GNC put something extra in that last batch of creatine I bought.

Any chance I may be able to get the dealer to give me a new key? I couldn't have used that key more than 150 times...

I don't know about a new free key, but maybe you can get a 2 for 1. Get yourself a spare.
