Cool '06 gixxer750 - March 20, 2006, 04:16 PM

I spent Saturday afternoon helping my buddy strip and race prep his brand new '06 750. I did ride it up the street and back but never got above 25-30mph so all I can say about that is that the intake noise it makes sounds identical to earlier bikes.

After stripping it down though, I can say this: The bike is like 99.9% clean sheet new design. As best I can tell (I've had an '02 and currently have an '04) the only carry-over parts are the handlebar switches and maybe the brake/clutch levers. Other than that and maybe something minor that I missed the bike is all new.

The muffler/cat thingamabob weighs a freaking ton - slip-ons will save a bunch of weight on this one. We mounted up an M4 full ti system that I swear only weighs about 3 lbs.

I read on the WERA board where a guy dyno'd one and relative to the '04/5 it was a bit weaker below 10K and a bit stronger above.

I've got one on order and had pretty much convinced myself to pass it up and keep the '04 for another season but dang.......now I think I might go for it after all.
