GSXR 1000 riders, questions.

GSXR 1000 riders, questions. - September 9, 2008, 08:45 PM

I had a few questions for you guys/gals.
Do you havea ny regrets on your purchase/which other 1000 would you have purchased if you could go back?
What is your biggest gripe about your bike?
What weird/odd problems do you have?
Are there any stability problems you encountered?
How does your GSXR1000 stack up against other 1000s you've ridden with?
Still trying to make up my mind, if the R1 can be made as fast as the GSXR 1000 or ZX10 with minor effort I think that is the way I'll go. If only I could find one a newer one for $4000 in mint condition, lol.

i would buy a 600 that will go 182 over a 1000 anyday. all the power of a literbike, and all the nimbleness of a 600.

When I came to, the general back-alley ambience of the suite was so rotten, so incredibly foul. How long had I been lying there? All these signs of violence. What had happened? There was evidence in this room of excessive consumption of almost every type of drug known to civilized man since 1544 AD. What kind of addict would need all these coconut husks and crushed honeydew rinds? Would the presence of junkies account for all these uneaten french fries? These puddles of glazed ketchup on the bureau? Maybe so. But then why all this booze? And these crude pornographic photos smeared with mustard that had dried to a hard yellow crust? These were not the hoofprints of your average God-fearing junky. It was too savage. Too aggressive.

I went 181 on a 600 once. I think a 182 mph 600 is bullshit. 181, that's it.

1ST off 181 on a 600 is BS unless it has nitrous or a turbo! 2ND you need to pm Carnage about R1's. He has had quite a few. On a flat out straight line the GSXR will beat the R1 every time with the same weight riders. You can make the R1 faster but if a GSXR has the same mods he will beat you.

My R1 at Booneville on stock gearing does 177mph on GPS, with the new tire that I have on right now I should be hitting maybe 179-180mph on GPS.

R1's are restricted at 13k in 6th gear. I am losing about 1000rpm's and maybe 5mph more.

I've seen a gixxer 750 do 173mph on GPS

Carnage and Dodge131, thanks for the straight answers. If you don't mind me asking, how come the 750 went only 4 mph slower? Did you or him change the sprockets? Something doesn't seem right.
