I got my bike in November ('05 GSXR 750) since then there has been many discussion's on horsepower. I have heard 120 all the way up to 160.
Does anyone know for sure?

I've heard between 120 and 130. I'm going to dyno mine when I get it. 160 is way too much seeing they make around 148 at the crank.

The magazine test bikes dyno'd at 127 and change. The only guy I know who put his on a dyno got 126 stock. So figure low-mid 120s.

160??

When the guy told me 160 I told him that was kind of like my hair color. As much as I would like to believe it's true.... lol

I figured about 125.

Next question ... My bike has been lowered 2 inches. And I wear platform boots (yes, it sucks being 5'2). I don't want to lower it any more but yet I am still 3 inches from where I would like to be. So, I figured cutting the seat down. Does anyone know anyone who can do this?
Any comments on this? Good / Bad idea???

Brooks is the man for these questions.

I had my bike lowered 2 inches when I first got it and kept it that way for the first season and also had the seat cut down. I just took all the foam off and replaced it with denser less thick foam. I did this the cheap way but the best way would be to go up to and upholstery shop, tell them how thick you want the foam. Make sure to get something more dense so it doesn't compress as much when you sit on the seat. I think you can have custom gel seats made that are less thicker than the regular ones but I never looked around much for it.

My second season with the bike I raised it back up, and kept the seat the same. I only really had problems on steep inclines while stopped and of course backing up the bike.

I wouldn't lower the suspension anymore that it already is. Also have someone that knows about suspension settings, set up the bike for your weight, that will allow your suspension to compress more when your on the bike.

Hey Brooks, did you lower your front and rear on your 03? And if so how much?

Yeah I did. It doesn't need to be the same amount say if you do two inches in the rear its about 1 - 1.5" in the front. Get a ruler that has mm on it as you need to be very accurate if doing one fork at a time. There is no set value the front needs to be lowed, just make a good judgement as how the bike looks from the side. Remember the front needs to be slightly lower than the rear.

I found one guy in Gaithersburg who said he could do it and put gel packs in the seat. The only problem was he couldn't get to it for another 2 months.

I was also thinking about a Corbin seat. They said they could cut it to "fit" me. I should just do that and stop crying like a sissy because I am short

Brooks, how come you don't have your bike yet? I got the one you want. It's wayyyyyy fast!!!!!! (comparing to my '01 zx9r)

I have no idea how long it takes. At first they told me they had 4 and to come pick it up in 2 weeks. Now they say they are waiting for them to arrive. If it doesn't come in by next weekend, hopefully I can take my approved loan somewhere else. I received the credit card from the loan co with the approved amount. Can I take my approved loan to another dealership or do I still have to buy from this place. Steve do you know?
