Opinions wanted on graphics... - May 4, 2006, 11:33 PM

I have a 2005 full fairing'd sv650S that I am going to paint the lower fairings black. I want opinions on what would look good. Should I paint the lowers a flat color like the new r6's have... the plastic look.. Or should I go gloss? Also I want to put graphics on it that preferably run inline with the tail.. what designs or styles of graphics look really good on bikes? My friends father does signs and lettering etc and has the plotter etc. if only I had an idea of what would look good. Please tell me what you think would look wicked on my bike. It is the 05 blue but the lowers are going to be black....

Take a picture of the bike with the fairings on it. Photo shop it for the graphics. everybody likes different stuff for graphics. If photo shop doesn't work for you, print the pic, then trace ther outline. make copies of the outline. Get a 12 pack and a box of crayola 64 crayons. Have fun coloring your new scheme.

Photoshop is hard for a lot of folks (like me). I tried that, but I couldn't capture the curves of the bike when I changed the color.
I went to Toys 'R' Us and bought a $2 model of a sport bike. I used some clay (Sculpey, actually) to create full fairings to imitate my bike better.
Then I went to Micheal's and bought a lot of different colored acrylic paints and totally went to town on the model. I painted the seat, tank, and wheel rims to match my bike (those weren't changing) and went through 4 or 5 color combos (complete with mini graphics) and took photos of each color.
The finished result looked remarkably like the model.

They are the factory 05' blue, but i like black especially since the frame is black.... make it look different than the other ones... someone said to get the ripped looking flames.. I want something that would run inline with the tail of the bike...
