Shark fin chain guard...I think it's kinda cool - March 26, 2009, 06:37 AM

so i bought a Dremel yesterday...took a nap, woke up and headed to the garage.

All this because of a dumbass bolt that was taking up the hole that I had to use to screw in my new swing arm spool sliders...but I wanted to mod/remove my rear hugger anyway...

The rear tire is a PIA to remove/put on by yourself.

Plastic is fun to cut with the Dremel..check out my free hand skills

the concept behind my bike is my high school colors..blue and gold (with white & black)...our mascot was a dolphin...but shark fin sounds cooler and I think it's a unique mod (my first one )....haven't seen this before by anyone or for sale...I could be wrong, but oh well.

Oneway doesn't care about opinions...u don't like it...see my avatar

BEFORE

here is the bolt..in the center of the pic. It secures a bracket that prevented the rear hugger from swaying side to side...the rear hugger was a flimsy peice of plastic. That bolt took up about 1/4 inch of where I had to screw in the swing arm spool from the other side

got the tire off - FINALLY. (and yes...I cleaned up all that grime and shit before I put the tire back on haha

Shark Fin.That's a free hand cut by the way...watch how even it is...

perfect size..right at the tip of the rim. Finished product...no rear hugger

THANKS FOR LOOKING

now i get to try out no rear hugger in the rain lol. I'll be sanding and painting my undertail flat black...

that's how it seems.

it had to be done basically so I could use that screw hole...the bracket wasn't performing as it should anyway because I still had tire marks on the inside of the hugger...and I didn't want to go without a chain guard. I kept it in case I decide to shorten it and put it back on....but we'll see.

You realize that the "grime and shit" you mentioned is going to come back twice as quickly with no hugger, right?

Oh and I wasn't trying to be a dick. I actually like it. I was just pointing out that by performing this mod, you have committed yourself to a pretty ridgid cleaning schedule.

I don't think I'll be knocking down your door to get help for body mods

But seriously, not bad, it fits the rest of the bike.

Yeah following that big hunk, is like following a semi! You get the head wobble from the air flow coming off his tail. lol j/k
