TRE mods for SV bikes.. - May 21, 2008, 07:29 AM

All,

I'm thinking of making up a batch of Timing Retard Eliminator kits for the 2nd gen SV650/SV1000. The mod's very simple (look on www.sv650.org for details) and will get rid of the ECU's retarding of the ignition timing in 2nd-4th gears. This is generally assumed to be done in order to meet noise targets and not for any legitimate performance or safety goal.

If anyone is interested, I'll pick up a pack of 15k resistors and solder some up. I'll even help with installing (and if you haven't adjusted your Throttle Position Sensor from the stock setting, I can help you with that too) for the price of coffee or beer (depending on time of day). If not, I'll whomp one up for myself and be done with it. PM me if you're interested.

Gary

These actually do make an ever so slight difference in the FI 650's.

I would post this on SVRider too...

Will do sah. Need to check and see how many 15k resistors I have in my gear (oddly enough I probably have some as I build guitar pedals for fun).

I made a bunch for gixxers back in the day... sold em for $25-30...

They make a huge difference in gears 1-3 in terms of acceleration. I didn't know the SV's had them.
