2012 Triumph Daytona 675 - September 1, 2011, 12:27 PM

The new 2012 Triumph Daytona 675 has been released and while at this stage, these are the only pics we’ve got, we can bring you the few technical updates this model presents. After the spy pics recently, we had expected a complete overhaul of the new Daytona 675 but it looks more like a basic restyling.

New colours are on offer: the Daytona 675 now comes in Phantom Black and Diablo Red with sports Triumph logo on the tank and Daytona and 675 decals. Under the fairing we get blacked-out parts already seen on the 675R. Other black tinted components feature on the footpegs, handlebars, and around the tail area. New details have been included on some of the engine components, including on the carter. The engine itself is the same three-cylinder 675cc, 12-valve unit with 125 hp and 72 Nm of torque. That means the 2012 Daytona 675 will still get that triple, raucous sound.

More technical components include the upside-down 41mm fork, adjustable rear shock to adapt to riding styles and road or track conditions, Nissin front radial disc brakes and five-spoke alloy wheels. Standard tyres available are a Pirelli Supercorsa SP set for a racing ride and to complement the lightweight Triumph.

The 2012 Daytona 675 weighs 162 kg (dry) and will come with the usual Triumph range of optional accessories including carbonfibre components, slip-on Arrow exhaust, quickshifter electronic gear change, Ohlins shock and a racing kit developed for the Supersport and Superstock classes. The 2012 Daytona should cost the same as the current model, about €11,990.

What is your issue w/ the ergos? Bars to low? There are aftermarket bars available. If this 53 yo can ride one w/ stock clip-ons all you 30-somethings can do it. Or get a Heli-bar kit.

I'll admit I can't ride mine more than about 4 hrs but I'm an old fart. And I really could use a second bike w/ more upright bars to do longer distance rides. So I can understand as a daily driver or commuter it leaves a lot to be desired.

Photo of my 2006 (owned since new) from this May or June. I smile a lot whever I can get time to ride it.

OK, that explains. I'm 5' 3" 140 lbs, was a Yammy TZ 250 racer back in the day and the smallness of the 675 is attractive to me. It is on the tall side though. I cannot flat foot both, at a stoplight.

Where does it compete against them? 1 bike in supersport doesn't count. And they're so far back in world supersport i'm not sure you can call that competing either. so....

It needs MORE power. Because its a 3 cylinder, even tho it might make a little more power than 4's, its not enough right now. Needs help top end.
