new bike / looking for a one-way ride? - August 10, 2012, 01:08 PM

So I found a used Bonneville, talked with the owner and am getting it Sunday and riding it home.

bonne.jpg

It's in Fayetteville NC. Home is Alexandria VA.

Got what I need for this but haven't bought a ticket (bus/plane) yet. I really don't travel when I'm not driving. Anyone got any travel advice/suggestions?

For that matter anyone headed south Saturday night or Sunday early? I can throw in for gas if you've got room for a part way passenger.

When you get bike, hit me up on Facebook. We have a pretty good group... a lot from DC area... a lot of Bonnies. I'm on a Scram, as pictured in my avatar.

Sorry, no can do.

I just got around to a LinkedIn account last month but I've never been able to see my way to joining facebook. Not judging - it's just not something I want to do.

Like to meet up with you/your group though. Maybe for a ride? Never done a group ride either but that I'm up for that.

Still hoping for some travel advice. Any one got comments on doing this by bus?

Or if anyone is interested in a 700 mile dawn to dusk I'll pay gas and meals.

Try to grab a ride with someone going to NCBIKE this weekend. That will get you to the NC border at Roanoke Rapids.

To the people that took the time to offered their thoughts/opinions and suggestions - Thank you.

I did the Greyhound. Seller was cool, met me at the station with the bike on a truck. That was nice since he originally said he'd pick me up and drive to his place. I did have to wonder what I was going to do to get back to the station if the deal fell through. No problems though, the bike was as represented. Did business on the side walk and he got me back to I95.

Just took the Interstate home since this bike was new to me and if there were any problems I didn't want to be somewhere isolated. Also, after not sleeping so much on the bus I wanted to get home soonest. A night without much sleep isn't as easy to work around as it used to be. I'm grateful that I've read the posts here and paid attention to the "STOP, take a break when you're getting too tired to pay full attention" ones. Thanks all you guys that have ever posted that.

Now that I have something a bit more capable than my TU250 I'm hoping to try a group ride. Never done one but it sounds fun.

Thanks.

I've gone to that site but the hard part was waiting until I actually had the bike before ordering all the stuff I want.
