09 R6 Slip-on...input please - June 28, 2009, 04:22 PM

K and I are picking up the bikes this week. I'd like to at least get a slip-on for now. Any suggestions? I don't want anything too obnoxious yet, loud enough to be heard.

Any recommendations?

I found this: http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...6--641689.html

I looked over quite a few and it's honestly the only one from a cosmetic stand-point that I liked. Video on youtube sounds good. Anyone have one of these?

here's the vid link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghi-xl58nQs

[EDIT] listening to the video a few times I think this one may be a bit too loud.

Funny you should say that...I'm researching that now. Usually the slip-ons don't really pose much in the way of gain or loss...mostly noise

From what I have found it does not really add or negate any power since it's pretty much just a tip. All of the stock headers/mid-pipes remain. This is probably what I'll end up going with since it's cheap and will do what I want. Once I turn the bike over to the track full time I'll go with a full exhaust/power commander...etc...etc... (all the goodies I DON'T have on my current race bike )

It sounds good.....from the video....I think I would want something a lil more deeper sounding....but cosmetically

all of them remove the EXUP. I had good luck with my GYTR carbon. It was cheap too. You can find them for not much over $200.

Will I need a Power commander for a slip-on? Not sure how the new bikes are configured.

I will look into the gyt-r as well

my 07 ran perfectly fine without a PC. The slip on was also a bit louder. I think the EXUP might actually be used to quiet the exhaust as I noticed no loss in low end without it.

imo, it sounds high, very whiny. Annoys me just listening to it. Get something with a growl.

bluehokie12...yeah I agree...I crossed that one off my list. Right now I'm leaning towards the M-4.

Well, I think for the price I'm going to go with this: http://www.m4exhaust.com/products/flash/M4_Exhaust.html

They dyno test each exhaust, although the slip-on offers basically no performance (the bike as is has more than enough) gain my goal is honestly just a little more noise for traffic reasons. I'm going to call them tomorrow to make sure that the dyno numbers are without any type of tuner though.
