So I'm looking through the '03 owner's manual and noticed these two. What's the difference (if any)?

Not to sure, but according to the owners manual, here are some of the differences that I saw for 2002:

Maximum load:

YZF-R6 - 417lbs
YZF-R6C - 415lbs

Red Zone:

YZF-R6 - 15,500
YZF-R6C - 14,000

Wheel Base:

YZF-R6 - 54.3 in.
YZF-R6C - 54.4 in.

Basic Weight (wet):

YZF-R6 - 410
YZF-R6C - 412

Spark Plug:

YZF-R6 - NGK / CR10EK
YZF-R6C - NGK / CR9EK

Gearing:

YZF-R6 - 16/48
YZF-R6C - 16/46

Secondary Reduction Ratio:

YZF-R6 - 3.000
YZF-R6C - 2.87

Not quite as many differences for 2003. Sounds like it might be some sort of slightly restricted model for certain countries/jurisdictions, but don't really know. Could C stand for Canada maybe? Or California?

On a related note, I found owners manuals for 2002 & 2003s R6 online at:

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/service/...6-15-32_64.pdf

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/service/...6-16-45_13.pdf

Also stumbled across this pic of a special edition R6 in Europe:

Crap, can't embed it. Guess you'll have to click here: http://r6-ignitelife.yme.com/html/wa...r/R6_800_2.htm

So then the red line and gearing are different for fuel economy reasons? And is the smaller rear sprocket the reason for the difference in wheelbase? (i.e., same size chain + smaller sprocket means rear wheel is back slightly?)

Hum, does the redline appear differently? I think my vin had R6C but everything looks identical to my wife's bike which does not have a C on it.
Also, would they sell this model on the east coast? If mine is a C that beetch is going back or I'm trading it in.
Any way to tell for sure? I am about to flip the heck out!

Thanks to R1Myers here is the info, I verified that neither of the bikes my wife and I own are "C" models. whew!

YZFR6S-L

YZFR6 = model
S = model year (this case means its an 04)
L = color (this case blue, R = red, S = silver)
C = Cali. model

This is for the 04 model.
