Guys,

Which motor oil do you use in your R1 and why?

How many miles are on the R1?

If I'm not mistaken, your manual recommends 10w-40... if the bike has less than 3, 000 miles, I don't recommend synthetic. If it has more, use Mobil1 in the red cap(15w-40). If not, use a motorcycle oil with the correct rating for your bike(SF,SG,SH, etc...)

The manual recommends 10w-30 or 20w-40. I know many people use that red cap Mobil1 (now gold cap and not sure it still doesn't have friction modifiers), but Mobil website clearly doesn't recommend this oil for motorcycles. I would like to use this because it's half the price of Mobil1 motorcycle oil. hmmmm...what should I use~

I'm unclear, are you saying the redcap Mobil1 is half of the price?

I read about the redcap in a Motorcyclist Magazine article on oils...it came highly recommended...

I personally use Motul, but it is quite expensive

I think Mobil1 15w-50 is less than $4, and Mobil1 motorcycle oil is more than $8...no?

All I am saying is Mobil company doesn't recommend it...
