MotoAmerica Mandating OEM Oil Filters On Yamaha YZF-R1 Racebikes

MotoAmerica is placing a temporary ban on aftermarket oil filters on Yamaha YZF-R1 racebikes. Photo by David Swarts, copyright Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.
Until further notice, MotoAmerica is placing a temporary ban on aftermarket oil filters for the 2015-16 Yamaha R1 (all models) pending investigation. As of today 4/14/16 all 2015-16 Yamaha R1 must use an OEM oil filter.

ELEMENT ASSY, OIL CL

All teams should possess the correct tools and torque specifications to install oil filters and prevent the distortion of the gaskets. Filters must be safety wired.

Please contact technicaldirector@motoamerica.com with any questions.
